So I finally figured out what my U1111 DTC code I keep getting is all about.

Turns out it is a Centre Display Time-out.

Which I believe is caused by the fact the prior owner replaced the head unit in my car with a Kenwood aftermarket unit.

I'm now curious what the original center display looked like and offered for features and if I should get one to play with?

Seems to be this unit perhaps?: I am NOT sure if this is the correct original head unit for my car yet though.

howEVer, if your car didn't originally come with the nav unit, it'll be very difficult to add, as the wiring harness is much more complex than the basic radio.
Thanks. Sounds like I need to pull open the dash center console and get a look at the connector I have behind there.

My car has the larger plastic surround for the full display type head unit though currently. No idea if this was swapped out later, but was assuming it was original. If so, that would mean I have the right connectors in the dash.

But being a JDM model I'm not sure if what you have would work if for the US market, right? What's the model number on your unit?

Was it all in English when you had it connected?

Further, was it a nice unit to use? Or because of the era it's now too old to be worth bothering with?

If it displays TPMS, I wonder if just having this head unit would allow me to get TPMS working or not on a 2011 model or are there other components in the system wiring design I'd be missing on my older model I wonder?

I'm just wanting to learn and find out if my U1111 error would go away with it connected and if there might be some usability in it that would still be worthwhile having for daily use.

Sadly no one has posted any video of the stock head unit in use and how it all looked and worked.
 
These head units do not display TPMS or any vehicle diagnostics, but they nEVer lose the Real Time Traffic feature of navigation, they record every CD you've EVer played on the music hard drive, and have a better backup camera than the Nissan Leaf. If you have a tiny reverse camera hidden next to the tailgate latch it must've come with the Multivision, and there will be multiple multipin wiring connectors back there if you had the Multivision display originally. Here's a rear comparison shot of the two OEM head units, this is the exact unit I have ready to ship, but I'd have to go pull it from storage to get the part number. IMG_6250.JPEG

Oh I loved that feature on my Prius. Great to create a little music library just by playing CDs once. Loved that. Wouldn't mind having that feature back!

Yeah, the camera on my miev is WAY better than the one on my Leaf. But I'm not sure the one I have is stock as it sticks way out. Definitely not hidden. I'll try and get a pic of it to post here as soon as I can.

I guess I need to open up my dash asap to determine what cable loom connectors I have in there. :)

So you don't have the original head unit installed anymore? DId you like the aftermarket ones better?

I know the old navigation systems like on my 2014 leaf are terrible. Not even worth bothering with these days. I'm guessing it's the same with this one?

Uxxxx are communication errors, if your head unit isn’t able to “speak CAN” it seems above DTC is set.

A bit of an overkill to go to all that trouble to clear an insignificant DTC but if you’re planning to replace the head unit anyway, I would choose something that supports ‘Apple Car Play’/‘Android Auto’ and let your phone do all the “heavy lifting”.

Wow. I'm just now noticing your sigature for the first time. Quite the collection of EVs!

I thought I was addicted to them after having bought a Leaf and an ECOMS as well in the last six months in addition to the miev.

Nice. I'm curious how they work. Would love to see a video of one in use if you ever decide to make one.

Yes. I tend to like to overdo things to learn and confirm things and just have new experiences with equipment I've not used before. It's just part of my researcher nature I guess.

I posted a video of the connectors I have behind the radio. Need to look at the connections on the stock unit to see if they match and what each one is exactly.

For now I've installed the android unit in it and will play with that for a bit.

Oh, thanks for the pic. In looking at them it seems I only have the connectors for the top unit type. So just the three. Not all the other stuff the bottom one has. Ah well... I guess it isn't worth bothering with the double din navi unit on the bottom after all if I don't have all those connectors.

I'm curious what the far right connector is on the top unit as well as what these units look like from the front.
