Hi Folks,

What size socket is needed for the wheel lug nuts?
19mm is too small, 22mm is too big, so it is either 20mm or 21mm?

Thanks and good health, Weogo

Hi Michael,

Thanks! My 13/16" socket isn't deep enough for me to check.
13/16" = 20.6375mm so it looks like 21mm is the metric equivalent.

Thanks and good health, Weogo

@MickeyS70 Could you move this thread to https://myimiev.com/forums/wheels-tires.26/ ?

Have someone a picture of a original wheel nut from the most iconic original imiev wheels?

The wheel nuts seem to be M12x1.5x21mm on those cars with exception of steel.
You have to always use the correct ones. Do not use steel ones on anything else then steel wheels.
The steel one are simple to find and available from proper company like febi bilstein here: https://partsfinder.bilsteingroup.com/en-US/article/febi/46639

Maybe to make the question more clear:
Here is a YouTube video i found that show the wheels i am talking about and also the lug nuts:

But its missing the information i am looking for.

This is a second picture i found on the internet.

Can someone with OEM lug nuts like those take one of them off and make a detailed picture?

In general most people use one security nut on a wheel and mix it with the OEM ones. If your question is to make a picture of the OEM one, then i am talking about the OEM one, not the security aftermarket one (mitsubishi is also selling securtiy lug nuts).

If you exactly know where you got your 4 security lug nuts from, then just get a second set of the same ones from same seller. Then you get the same key and 4 additional ones. You can then use 2 securtiy and 2 normal ones on each wheel (better look thanks to be more symmetrical?) or use those on a second vehicle with M12x1.5mm.
Or do you have one of those better ones with many individual keys? Then there is a number on the lug nut and that is the key number.

You have the iconic imiev wheels on your imiev and maybe even the stock OEM-lug nut laying around you had to take off to install your security lug nut? Could you make some detailed pictures of this stock OEM lug nut with some measurement device next to it to for size?

You mean this?

Yes, exactly! This is from the exact i-miev aluminum wheel i have shown on some pictures above? I ask this because Mitsubishi had sold the i-miev with the aluminum wheel i have shown above and an other version with typical wheel-design that can also be found on stock peugeot ion and citroen c-zero. But the ones on the pictures above was only available for original i-miev.
If this is from such a original i-miev wheel i have shown above, could you measure the length of it?

Huge thanks. The last interesting measurement would be to stick something inside (or even a random M12 bolt if you have one laying around) to see how deep in mm the hole is. Then all relevant information would be probably answered about that part of the imiev :D

26.4mm, although the thread itself is only about 17mm deep

This is interesting. I expected the thread to be as deep as the hole. But i remember somewhere else to have read some time ago that too much thread could lead to some negative aspects.

Thanks! Now i have all the information i could ever need about that part i do not own and have to choose the best possible replacement for it.

Great to know! Those two parts lug nuts are known to be bad quality for longevity. The lug nut itself is steel. The cap is just put on it with pressure. Those are two different materials.
Here a example:
