LEDs or halogens

Can anyone share their experiences with halogen and LED headlights on the iMiev or similar vehicles? Which type do you prefer, and why?

I’ve had both on my vehicles, and I think I prefer LED headlights....they’re brighter and provide better visibility at night, and the best part is that they last longer than halogen bulbs, which means less frequent replacements.

I think I prefer halogen headlights, I find they provide a warmer light and better visibility in certain conditions..most importantly they’re generally easier and cheaper to replace compared to LEDs.

Is there an LED kit for these vehicles? I know in the UK you can only install parts specifically made for the vehicle or may end up failing an MOT test.

Personally I'd love to install LED lights.

I've been through three LED lamp replacements now, and each. including the Sylvania branded set had very quick lumen depreciation. They start off looking crisp and clear, and then faded away into uselessness. I'm back to good 'ol yellow halogens.

I was going to switch to LED as they take less power and I'd heard they never die.

I guess that's not true based on the above post. I'll just stick with what's in it now which I think are halogens.

I did a bit of research and then purchased iMiev-specific LEDs from www.ledperf.com about 6 months ago and they are wonderful - very happy. I also polished the plastic lens with Brasso which helps a lot too.

Thanks for the link. But be careful with brasso. I used it on some plastic years ago on an arcade machine. Looked brand new after. But over time it yellowed so bad it looked ancient. It's not made for plastic. I'd recommend you redo it with something else to get the brasso off of there before it degrades the plastic.
