It connected fine to the CRV and the i-miev.
Great to know.
I do have an SRS light on the dash and the passenger light on the center console says something.
Maybe it's just disabled, the passenger’s air bag cut off switch is located above inside the glove box <LHD> or instrument panel centre lower panel assembly <RHD>.

Or below applies?

I did find a connector unplugged under the driver's seat a week ago and plugged it back in but maybe I haven't driven enough miles for that to shut off the dash light.
If that's the reason, it won't turn off by itself, I'm afraid.
I think someone said any SRS light is under warranty, is that correct?
Not sure, but no harm in asking a dealer. If it's not foc then the HobDrive app can clear it.
I just remembered. There were several codes returned on the imiev. But when I looked them up they seemed normal.

U1111 & U1116 are 'normal', P1A25 is no longer active and should disappear if you clear the codes.

The reason you see no airbag error could be because the SRS ECU is not 'interrogated' (might need the paid version, same applies for HobDrive)

Thank you!

So far I've paid $125 for the ODBLink MX+ (used email discount), and $7 for carscanner, and $8 for Hobdrive.
I think all these prices are very normal and reasonable and am happy to pay this to not have to buy another device, have another device around that I hardly use and have to keep charged and updated, learn android (which I know nothing about), etc.

Hopefully I can get something that works with IOS and in doing so contribute some help to this forum for others who want to use IOS.

I will do short videos at the end, regardless of the outcome, showing the setups for carscanner and Hobdrive.

Update on carscanner and SRS lights

Hobdrive update
The MX+ seems to work fine with Car Scanner (just see if you can get CMU data, for example).

Restart everything before you try to connect with Hobdrive.

If still no joy, it’s likely to be an issue with the profile, check under ECU as shown in @Rational ‘s video.

Did you try to disable/enable the passenger airbag yet?

I restarted everything, reviewed Rational's video again, and here is what happened:

Looks like you did everything right, what is strange is that you cannot select the dongle anywhere, can you see it in the iOS Bluetooth as connected?

Did you try HobDrive/MX with another car?

Maybe a long shot, but there could be FW updates for the dongle on the OBDLink website..

If all the above checks out then it really looks like the MX+ (although iOS approved), doesn’t seem to be working in combination with HobDrive for iOS and an I-Miev??

Not entirely sure if a functioning iOS version of HobDrive would reveal any more DTCs than what you got with CarScanner??

Just remembered, did you ever press the little (reset?) button on the dongle?

I'm back on this today. I was wondering, why did I order the MX+ instead of the LX like Rational had? I think that I did not see the LX as an option where ever I ordered it and figured the MX+ would be same and better. But then I thought, maybe if I try all these things you say above today and it doesn't work, I'll return the MX+ and order the LX and try again.

Then I started down the path of installing the firmware update. First step is to install the OBDLink app on the phone, go to settings, and this is what I saw:

So looks like OBDLink LX is NOT supported in IOS, which is strange, because that's what Rational got working.

But OBDLink MX + IS supported in IOS.

Maybe that's why I ordered it.

More to come...

Yes, LX is Android only, @Rational didn’t use an iPad/iPhone
But OBDLink MX + IS supported in IOS.
Yes, but unfortunately that doesn’t mean it’s working with an i-Miev, iirc best change to successfully connect via iOS is to use a Wi-Fi dongle (can anyone recommend one?)

I installed the OBDLink app on my iPad, to check the firmware. It was up to date. I reset the OBDLink by pressing the button 15 seconds.

I used the OBDLink app to connect to my 2005 Elantra. It connected and read codes. No codes found as expected.

I went to the iMiev, tried using the same OBDLink app to connect to imiev. Connected to the OBDLink but not the imiev.

So I think I'm sending the OBDLink MX+ back and giving up on that.

Good, nothing wrong with the dongle then.

That’s not surprising, the ODBLink app isn’t known to connect to an I-Miev

Might as well, unless you use it with an Android device, it’s not going to work, thanks for trying.

The MX uses wifi radio, i.e. works well with apple devices.

the LX uses BT radio and works well with android devices.

The app you need is Canion or OBDzero or Hobdrive.

The OBDLink app is for gasoline cars, not gonna work for EVs.

Are there any other IOS things worth trying? Or is it time to buy an android?

And if so, do I keep the ODBLink MX+ or get something different.

My goal is a device that is easy to use and reads codes well and can reset them. The best answer would be something that can reset the SRS code that I currently have.

Thanks!

Maybe go back to post #15… I have cleared an SRS fault with HobDrive (forgot to re-connect airbag before turning on the car) no guarantee that this will work for you though…

If you want to ‘stick’ with iOS then test the ODBLink MX+ Bluetooth dongle with Car Scanner on your CRV first, then try the iMiev.

In the Android world, HobDrive (paid version) works with almost any dongle, not sure if that also applies for iOS but may be worth a try (even with your BlueDriver sensor).

If you get nowhere, I would return the OBDLink MX+, get a cheap ‘preloved’ Android device and use it with the BlueDriver dongle and either Car Scanner or HobDrive to read out DTCs..

@Rational made some great instruction videos (post #9)

I will be doing this next, thank you Mickey! I had forgotten that I could use the bluedriver dongle with that.
