Battery capacity got reset after changing aux battery

Yikes! Also, how did you accomplish this?

    Lithium Titanate / JDM version

As far as I know, LiPo (Lithium Ion Polymer) is not used in any EVs; it's just too dangerous. You usually see it in radio controlled model planes and the like. LTO is a low voltage chemistry, nominally 2.4 VPC (compared with around 3.7 VPC for ternary lithium, and 3.2 V for LFP). The low cell...

    Wanted- iMiev Motheboard

Perhaps try another repairer? At leat that might tell us the real name of the part that the diagnostics says has failed. I don't know of any motherboard in an iMiEV. Are there any fault lights on? Any trouble codes on any paperwork? What exactly happens when you try to start?

The Troubleshooting and Repair for On-board Charger (OBC) Thread

I don't know, but an alternative would be to just run one wire separate to the ribbon for pin 42, preferably with a connector so you can separate the boards if needed.

CMU Board : notes, eprom, cell re-numbering, CAN messages

I can't see a CAN packet at the end of the process. But I think you can tell from the last bit pair what happened: 11 if the last bit pair was 11 (unexpected, nothing happened) 01 if the last bit pair was zero, but that didn't result in a change of ID 10 if the last bit pair was zero, and that...

CMU Board : notes, eprom, cell re-numbering, CAN messages

    I found the table; I call it CmuIdMaskTbl . It's actually like this: D2 FF= 11 11 11 11 CMU id 10 9 8 7 D3 0F= 00 00 11 11 CMU id 2 1 12 11 D4 00= 00 00 00 00 CMU id 6 5 4 3 I suppose that this might be useful if trying to renumber a single CMU on the bench, not in a live...

CMU Board : notes, eprom, cell re-numbering, CAN messages

Wonderful! So do I. I call the first CAN bus data byte D1, I suspect that the convention is to call it D0. I can't seem to find the answer to that anywhere; it's frustrating. I believe that the answer is yes, effectively. Every 0x3C3 packet seems to set the threshold voltage, so leaving the...

The Troubleshooting and Repair for On-board Charger (OBC) Thread

I think he's desoldered it (a really neat job, bravo), because one pin is missing. It might be difficult to source a replacement, but perhaps an unused pin could be moved into place?

With Google photo, it is really hard to find the URL of a photo, and if you do, it's really long (like 1000 characters), and if you use it, you find that the URL changes in a few days and the link is bad anyway. Google is a small family run business, and can't afford to host everyone's photos...

    BMU firmware mods

Yes. I've dreamed of being able to do this. The title of the video ends with "after battery upgrade", so that depends on what capacity and health the replacement battery has. [ Edit: one would imagine that it would be of the order of 95/48x ≅ 2x the capacity of the factory new-car range...

First Modern EV To Be Taken Seriously

They have a device that alters certain CAN bus messages. Similarly to how LEAFs need a device to alter certain CAN bus messages. That pair of chemistries are vastly different. The cells that they are using (NMC) are fairly similar to the originals (LMO), but not similar enough to get away...

Decyphering iMiEV and iON CAR-CAN message data

I don't think so. Some of the values are over one million, which is too much even for two bytes (max 2¹⁶-1 = 65,535). It doesn't seem likely to me; sorry. That would make some sense, but sadly I think that they just customise binaries for each car.

Decyphering iMiEV and iON CAR-CAN message data

I have both. I think I've been concentrating on the 2012 distribution. I can't believe I didn't notice that. Or realise that there was a web browser version separate to the binary version. Sigh. See below. Wow. A lot easier than wading through a disassembly of the main x86 executable. OCX...

Decyphering iMiEV and iON CAR-CAN message data

That seems to have promise. What is this "older" version of MUT? I have 2016, 17, 18. I wasn't thinking Javascript; usually that's server side. Most of the binaries, in .CFF files, seem to be (with one exception, the CMU firmware) encrypted. To me, that's where the gold is. It might be...

First Modern EV To Be Taken Seriously

Actually, LFP (LiFePO₄) is a 3.2 V (nominal) chemistry; the LMO or whatever (most) iMiEV cells are has a 3.75 V nominal voltage: https://pushevs.com/2015/11/04/gs-yuasa-improved-cells-lev50-vs-lev50n/ Perhaps some models used LFP? I know a few Japanese made iMiEVs had LTO chemistry. Even lower...

Decyphering iMiEV and iON CAR-CAN message data

Those fields should be sorted out by your hardware, as long as you have all the registers in the CAN chip set up correctly. Those are bits. CAN bus data can be from zero to eight bytes (set in the DLC, Data Length Control field); in this example, DLC = 1 and there is only 1 byte of data. Most...

    Eliminating Mitsu's Onboard Charger/DC-DC Converter

I don't know the the UHF models, but the CAN bus versions of the older ones required a CAN bus message every 10 seconds or it would stop charging, and would not start at all without a CAN message. So you'd need something to intercept CAN bus messages from the BMS and send commands every second...

    Adapters

I believe that it will work, yes. It's confusingly called a type 1 to type 2 cable, whereas the standard seems to be to mention the EVSE ("charger") end first, so I'd call it type 2 to type 1. It's also a 32 A cable, which means that it's twice as heavy as it needs to be for an iMiEV. Though it...

Aptera Petition to adopt Tesla Charging Standard

I hope it fails. The rest of the world has standardised on CCS (albeit CCS 2, with CCS 1 used in North America), so if all of the USA started using the Tesla connector, it would isolate the USA even further. This is one of those cases where technical superiority (whether that's true or not)...

The Troubleshooting and Repair for On-board Charger (OBC) Thread

Works for me. The 0,07 Ω across the IGBTs is very bad. I assume that short comes from the Waffle Plate™. If so, it means that your IGBTs are shorted. I can only recall one very minor repair of a waffle board; they are very hard to deal with, and we don't know the correct replacement parts...
