The i-miev have a EV-ECU MH8106F with 1024K of memory and also the BMU seem to be done with the MH8106F. The user @kolyandex seem to be the only one who reverse engineered the firmware of the i-miev and now sell this product here:
https://ecutools.eu/chip-tuning/mitsubishi-flasher/mitsubishi-ev/

@kolyandex recommends to use this connector https://ecutools.eu/chip-tuning/openport-20/ . There are also cheap china clones @kolyandex do not bother to also recommend. He seem to never have seen any issues with those cheap clones.

But lets say a person spend 190$ for https://ecutools.eu/chip-tuning/mitsubishi-flasher/mitsubishi-ev/ and 189$ for https://ecutools.eu/chip-tuning/openport-20/, what would the person at the end get? The ability to modify the BMU and configure it to accept 120Ah cells? Or something else? Its really not clear at all what you are buying there for the money.

I've often wondered. My vague impression is that each ECU has a number of "settings" or "parameters", and you can change those. I don't think that you get access to the actual firmware binary image (which is what I'd want, for poking around in). As an example, the dashboard firmware might have a setting to display the speed and estimated range in miles or kilometers. You don't want 1024 versions of the firmware if there are are 10 such binary options for different markets and hardware variants, and you might have some settings that take a numeric parameter. One example of a numeric parameter might be the nominal capacity of cells (see below).

The ability to modify the BMU and configure it to accept 120Ah cells?
That depends on how the firmware was written. It might have a parameter for the present Ah capacity of the battery, or it might not. (I believe that the iMiEV BMU does have such). But the firmware might have been written with certain limits, e.g. it might not accept more than 48.0 Ah in that setting (which is what a new original 50 Ah cell would be rated at, after buffers).

@coulomb
Yes, this is also something i want to be able to do. I would like to flash all firmware files i like on every single memory in the car. For example the latest (maybe last for ever?) firmware released by OEM changed the max charging speed from bad 50kW to much better 35kW so that the cars out there last longer. I do not want to pay any OEM to get this firmware to install it. I want to install it by myself.

@MickeyS70
I do not like the CAN bridge idea that much. Why should i modify CAN messages when the correct solution is to not send out the wrong CAN messages? Of course i would want to set the correct values instead of modify them halfway.
The current advertised modification offers this settings:
Capacity 0-120 Ah
Charge voltage 4.0-4.3
Source: https://forum.kolyandex.su/viewtopic.php?t=869

For example the default OEM configuration is to charge to 4.1Volt. For example when i in regular use case drive the car just few km and do not need the full range, i can set the BMU to charge the LEV50N cells to 4.0 instead of 4.1 volt and even further exchange the longevity of the LEV50N cells. When i need temporary the full range of the car, i then connect Openport 2.0 adapter to OBD2 port, change value to classic 4.1Volt and after changing the value i connect the charger to the car and let it charge and balance the cells to 4.1Volt.

You asked:
what are you actually trying to achieve?
Since 2023 i want to disable the TMPS and this is still my main goal i would like to achive in the next weeks: https://myimiev.com/threads/tpms-on-i-mievs.1881/page-2#post-45700
Later on i would like to play around with things like installing the firmware from a 88cell to a 80cell car. Someone already tried out and installed a 80cell battery pack with its 80cell configure BMU in a 88cell car and the EV-ECU just took it without any issues.
80cell LEV50N based cars have always this issue: https://myimiev.com/threads/peugeot-ion-gear-b-hack-leads-to-turtle-mode.5248/
So it would be nice to just install the latest EV-ECU firmware from the latest 88cell cars and you get those B and C gears.

In general: I want to own the car. Not the car owning me. Can someone tell what is the offer i linked there?

Nice to do list, unfortunately the only person that can help is @kolyandex. But even before he went AWOL his business model was to do the mods remotely rather than providing the tools for DIY.

I agree, a CAN bridge isn’t ideal but it works and you don’t have to pay a dubious 3rd party to make it happen..

I bought the Tactrix 2.0 and the driver software from Kolyandex that allows the use of the MUT3 software. He doesn’t sell the code to flash the BMU. That option is not functional in his driver program.

The MUT3 will let you program any computer in the vehicle but you have to have an operational file to load. I know you can get the file from Mitsubishi by paying a subscription but you would have to figure out how to modify it yourself.

I can dig up the links to this information if you are interested.

Thanks for the answer. Yes, i am interested in any info i could get about what can be done with things from kolyandex at the iMiev. You seem to be the only single person i could find on the internet with experience. The other Russian customer from kolyandex who use imiev or the minicab miev as a taxi service does not seem to be active on the forums.

Lets summarize what i understand now:

Connector:
All Mitsubishi software modding tools are based mainly on Tactrix OpenPort 2.0. Other adapters are also supported, but those seem to have no benefits but more disadvantages. Some are reported to be unreliable and some cost twice or even more then the original Tactrix OpenPort 2.0. Tactrix OpenPort 2.0 is the hardware where kolyandex is telling its about 4-10 times faster then the MUT-3 original hardware. Tactrix OpenPort 2.0 is out for more then 10 years. There have been some hardware revision changes since then on the adapter. There are many cheap clones out there but those seem to work just ok. But still maybe not trust those if you want to reflash your whole car's firmware.
To use Tactrix OpenPort 2.0 with MUT-3 software you have to pay of course at first the OBD2-adapter and then you also have to pay for the driver from kolyandex.

All MUT-3 hardware out there you can get below 1000$ seem to be china clones of the MUT3. And those clones are always reported to not work at all for coding. So they seem to be sort of useless for about 500-600$. This question appeared to me because before paying so much money for not-MUT-3 hardware and again much money for the software, i could maybe get some MUT3 hardware but it does not look like that.

Side note: Diagbox work on imiev, c-zero and ion cars. You have to enter '0000' as the number that is been asked at the beginning. But the software does not provide nearly as much usefull options i would like to have. I cant even configure any basic usefull things in there i would like to change. But its halfway cheap. Hardware cost about 70$ including worldwide shipment and the clones you get for the money just work fine. Diagbox Software is free of cost available here https://www.psa-diag.fr/diagbox/ and as VM here https://psa-diag.fr/diagbox/Diagbox-vm.php. The hardware you buy is only usefull for Diagbox software and useless with any other software.

Software kolyandex:
On https://forum.kolyandex.su/ there is sort of a summary of what is out there.
MMCodingWriter - recent version 2.3 is from 2020 and seem to not support the EV-ECU or anything else from the imiev. This is what have been reported to me. I cant test it myself, because i do not have Tactrix OpenPort 2.0 hardware at the moment.
The release year is important. In 2020 kolyandex was not that far with the development of the imiev BMU and EV-ECU to could have implemented the functionality back then. Maybe sometime there would be a update supporting the imiev.
Mitsubishi ECU flasher - Current version 2.2 is from 29.02.2024 and part of the MUT-3 Driver download. In the changelog there is:
- Added EV modules (Mitsubishi/Nissan) / Добавлены модули EV (Mitsubishi/Nissan)
I expect this to be what is been sold here https://ecutools.eu/chip-tuning/mitsubishi-flasher/mitsubishi-ev/
You can see some youtube videos on his channel how he is changing things on other ECU's. Mostly useless things like odometer. https://forum.kolyandex.su/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=69

MUT-3 Driver - Current version 2.2.
In the changelog there is:
- Added EV modules (Mitsubishi/Nissan) / Добавлены модули EV (Mitsubishi/Nissan)
There is a cheaper and a full version with different functionality. Looks to be independend from the ECU flasher functionality but still in the same software exe file.

That option is not functional in his driver program.
What version of the driver did you have? Is it the older 2.1 from 05.12.2021? You have a usb-dongle where you can reinstall the software as often you want on different computers or did you have the licence-registration where you have to always contact him if your computer dies and you have to hope he respond to your mail to activate the software on your new computer?
If i understand it correctly, you can update(for free) on the same computer his software and keep the same licence registration. The problem with the licence you only get is when the computer hardware change.

Could you send some screenshots of what is available with the software you currently have?

This is the MUT-3 driver with the ECU flasher in version 2.2 if you do not want to or can not register to the kolyandex forum. Its probably useless if you dont have the hardware and the dongle/licence but maybe someone would like to take a look at it.
Dont forget to remove the .zip at the end of the files. I had to split the file into 3 7zip files and add .zip to their names so the forum here accepts them.

Diagbox has the same functionality as the Mitsu MUT3, otherwise Peugeot/Citroën techs wouldn’t be able to support their i-MIEV clones.
But you’re correct, ‘out of the box’ the ‘free’ software only provides basic functionality. In order to use any advanced tools you need to sign up to PSA’s paid (annual?) subscription service.

@MickeyS70
I mentioned Diagbox just for simplified compare between the available options. I answered your message about Diagbox in the Diagbox thread here: https://myimiev.com/threads/i-miev-and-lexia-3-and-diagbox.4042/post-49322
I would be more then happy to solve some of the things i would like to do with the cheaper and already existing diagbox i have here. So lets continue the Diagbox discussion in the linked Diagbox thread.

This is the MUT-3 driver with the ECU flasher in version 2.1 (i posted the recent version 2.2 above) if you do not want to or can not register to the kolyandex forum. Its probably useless if you dont have the hardware and the licence but maybe someone would like to take a look at it.

There is a licensing difference between the two versions. That is why i post in this message the older version 2.1 in addition to the newer version 2.2 i posted before.
Version 2.1 (this): Checks on the hardware of the computer and based on this a license is bind to the computer and not to a person. Licensing is not possible in a virtual machine.
Version 2.2: Checks only for a USB license dongle. That is why its usable in a virtual machine. But cant be used by people who used the older licensing method from version 2.1 and before.

I downloaded these zip files but they won't open.

I have the Vehicle CI bridge 2.1, it has the flash functions grayed out.
Are you saying Vehicle CI bridge 2.2 allows flashing the hardware?

Yes, i wrote:

You seem to have ignored that. You cant open those 'zip' files, because those are not zip files. The forum software do not allow you to upload files with filenames by your choice. To upload any file type to the forum you have to put it in a 'zip' file. But when the file is bigger then 10mb, you cant upload it any more to the forum. This forum here rejects the file by telling that the file is too big. But you can upload multiple files smaller then 10mb. That is why i was forced to split version 2.2 into 3 7zip files.
Remove the .zip at the end - use the file explorer of your choice and rename the file by removing the '.zip' at the end of the file. At the end you should have archive.7z.001, archive.7z.002 and archive.7z.003 in the same directory. You can then use any opensource archive programs like 7zip or peazip to extract them. The extracting program automatically see the second and third file in the same directory and joins the files together again. I hope this more detailed text here helps.

Version 2.1 is the version without the usb hardware dongle like i explained also above. Version 2.2 is the version with the usb hardware dongle. You have spend really much money to @kolyandex . Probably the most of anyone else in this forum. I want to see kolyandex providing you with version 2.2 without any cost. Either as a version that do not need a usb hardware dongle (a version that is not available anywhere for download) or kolyandex should send you a free usb hardware dongle and transfer your licence to the usb dongle. Because his tool in version 2.1 was advertised with free lifetime updates.
Why have kolyandex switched to usb hardware dongle? Because version 2.1 or more summarized his license style got cracked. But that is not a problem his customers should be then have to pay for.
Could you send a e-mail to [email protected] and tell him you have version 2.1 and would like to update to version 2.2? Please keep me updated of his response if he want to see money from you for the software update from 2.1 to 2.2 instead of giving you some free of cost update to version 2.2.

Sorry, I didn't understand what you said. Maybe I read it too fast. I will try again.

FYI, I have the dongle from kolandex. but the driver SW is 2.1. So you are just wrong in what you said. (i.e. Version 2.1 is the version without the usb hardware dongle like i explained also above.)

When I asked him for a version that would allow flashing of the BMU on the MiEV, he told me it was not for sale.

I can ask him for 2.2 but he hasn't responded to any of my emails for a year or so now. I even have his Telegram address and he doesn't respond there either.

He said the dongle was so you could use it on any computer if I was going to use the same computer all the time I didn't need the dongle.

When you have the dongle, then great. You should be able to update to version 2.2 that include the additions for the i-miev EV-ECU and BMU.

When I asked him for a version that would allow flashing of the BMU on the MiEV, he told me it was not for sale.
You asked him over e-mail? Can you look up the date when he answered you, that it was not for sale?

You are telling, that he does not answer any of your e-mails for a year now. This include the information, that he told you over a year ago, that the BMU flash was not for sale?

The offer https://ecutools.eu/chip-tuning/mitsubishi-flasher/mitsubishi-ev/ i linked above is from beginning of 2024.
The forum post https://forum.kolyandex.su/viewtopic.php?t=869 is from 14.01.2024.

My understanding until now is: The "custrom firmware" he is selling, is a service he is offering in Novosibirsk. So if you would like to meet him, get this offer. Otherwise you get with version 2.2 any probably in combined with this licence https://ecutools.eu/chip-tuning/mitsubishi-flasher/mitsubishi-ev/ the ability to create this "custom firmware" by yourself.
You already have this custom firmware with remote flashing. This is something that is not been offered any more now.
So now you could with updated software read out your modded firmware from your car and further modify it. Then someone else who needs the mod could read out how his unmodded version looks like and compare it with your modded version and then do the modifications on their own.
When this gets publicly documented, all people would know how to help themself to modify the firmware of the BMU.

Yes, with the dongle you can use the software on any computer. Also in a virtual machine. So just update to version 2.2 with the dongle. Have you download version 2.2 already or did you still not understand what i wrote how to download it from the forum here?

Mitsubishi EV module makes possible to read and write ROM to EV and BMU ecu. That’s all. You can do with ROMs whatever you want.
About 2.1 and 2.2 versions - there is no reason to update hardware binding version, because it haven’t flasher abilities.
