Has anybody come across a decent folder hierarchy for a flash drive that the radio (ES) can work with? I was hoping to have one set of folders (artist name) contain that artist's songs in numerical order as they are on the CDs.

For example:

ROOT:
__|
__|
__(artist name A)
_____|
_______(song 1)
_______(song 2)
__|
__(artist name B)
_____|
_______(song 1)
_______(song 2)

The problem I'm having is most of the folders are in alphabetical order, but there are some that refuse to fall in line. The songs are also in alphabetical order, which I don't want. I want the songs in the order they are on the CDs. Again, some of the folders are doing this, while others refuse. The only way I've found to (mostly) fix the second problem is to put numbers at the start of each song name. But even still some songs refuse to organize correctly.

I hope I'm making sense.

Puttting different CD's into different folders isn't a problem - I'm not sure if you can name the folders anything you like or not . . . . mine are just labeled 'Folder 1' and 'Folder 2'

If you're having a problem getting the artists in the order you want, just add an 'A' (or maybe a '1') in front of the first artists name and a 'B' (or '2') in front of the next artists name and that should solve your problem . . . . I think

My experience is that the songs go into the folders in the same order they are on the CD, which I really like, because my favorite USB stick is the one where I have everything in just one folder. I put all my favorite songs from about 12 or 15 CD's into one folder and they are stacked in there by the # of each selection, and then in alphabetical order. So I have say 15 songs which were all the first (#1) song on the CD they came from and those 15 are then automatically arranged in alphabetical order. Next come songs which were #2 on their respective CD's and so on. This gives me about 300 songs by various artists which play in a pretty random order . . . . but they are all my favorite songs by their respective artists. Since we only use the car for 30 to 45 minutes each day, it takes a week or so to cycle through them all and then it begins again - No folders to select, nothing to mess with while driving . . . . just great music all the time

I'm pretty sure you could edit each folder on your computer and put songs in any order you wanted, but my 'random mix' works so well for me, I haven't bothered to try that

Thanks. I was just hoping there was a way to organize the songs without putting a number in front of each title, taking up space on the LCD, but I can do that if it's the easiest way to organize them properly. Folder order isn't the biggest issue for me as all but a few are in order (I currently have 109 folders).
