Here's a business opportunity that needs solving, unless one of you've already found the right vendor. At least in the good 'ol USA, there is no significant discount to insure extra vehicles, even if you have more vehicles than drivers in a household. So in my current situation with only three drivers in residence, the three registered i-MiEV each cost $93.67/month for just liability and undersinsured motorist coverage. The larger KIA SOUL EV costs $1 more per month, but my 2000 model Honda Odyssey van only costs $70.23/mo. Yes, that's 1/3 cheaper for a van that has a gross combined weight rating of 5700 lbs, compared to the tiny i at 2579 lbs! Lastly, our latest acquistion, a 2013 Tesla Model S Performance costs $98.08/mo, for a high performance car that weighs 4647 lb and has been known to cause great destruction and start fires in the hands of irresponsible drivers!

So, the moral of the story may be to just spend $5/month more, ditch the MiEV and drive a TESLA, but I find this pricing irrational and have gotten nowhere in appealing it with PEMCO and State Farm. Hagerty insures my collectible cars for barely more than this cost PER YEAR, but won't touch the MiEV until it's 25 years old.

What Gives?
