The point is whether it's old or new carbon. Old carbon -- as found in fossil fuels -- has been in the ground for eons. On the Fully Charged site I couldn't find a place to make a one-time donation. The credit card I had which I used exclusively for online purchases was hacked last month (someone tried to make some purchases in an appliance store in Germany), and after cancellation it took a horrible amount of time to changeover all the recurring expenses that card had been used for - I now avoid using a credit card for recurring expenses, or even using PayPal for that.
