Someone on Reddit pointed me to this information about the new SAE charging port. Essentially it is a J1772 (the one we have in our i-MiEVs for L1/L2 charging) with two extra pins below for high-voltage DC charging.

I was concerned about the new SAE standard being some weird US-only standard. Yes, it kinda is still, but it doesn't replace the J1772 standard -- it augments it, meaning existing L1/L2 chargers will still work with SAE standard ports. Existing fast DC chargers? Not so much.
