I would imagine that it would work on a mod. sine inverter, based on the fact that my ebike will work with one. But for the sake of your i's charger, I would try to use a true sine inverter. You might also have to figure out grounding, as I heard the ground test done by the EVSE doesn't pass (therefore not allowing you to charge) because the pin is not connected. This was discussed in another thread. I am interested in this topic as well. I was thinking of a way to put panels directly on the car to charge a second battery, and charge the car with this while out and about in-case you can't find a plug.
