Maybe . . . . most DC electric motors have a 'timing' adjustment which makes them more powerful when rotating in one direction and significantly less so in the other. No idea if this is true of our AC motors, but I would be really surprised if it was powerful enough in reverse to go as fast as it does in forward . . . . most things are optomized for their intended use and (take my word for it) there are very few of us who want to go 80 mph in reverse!
