I've never heard the battery charging while in the garage until today.
Is it normal for it to sound as if it reaches boiling each time it hits the end of the cycle where it turns off for a while before going into Charge Mode again?

I recognise the sound you are referring to and understand I as being water circulation in the cooling system ans maybe fans to cool of battery and / or charger.

I think I've been letting the nay sayers at work get into my head.
Everyone joking about my house burning down since I started parking the car in the garage.
A few yrs ago one of those Chrysler concept electric cars burnt down the house in the town next to us.

Yes,what you heard is the barely-perceptible circulating coolant gurgling noise - NOTHING TO DO WITH THE BATTERY! I cringed when I saw the title of this post - as I've become overly-sensitive to any type of criticism of my beloved iMiEV and can just visualize a visitor to this forum pouncing on this. rdct, perhaps it would have been better to have found a thread about unknown noises and voiced a question there? e.g. Unusual sounds from under car

I always wondered what happened to those vehicles. Their little Lotus-chassis EV looked pretty nice. Too bad it didn't come to fruition.

I hadn't considered posting etiquette in the event of ICE trolls but will keep that in mind.
On that note the office was buzzing today with anti EV banter.
How bad they are for the environment because of the carbon foot print to manufacture the batteries.
I can't believe how many people are so negative to these vehicles.

The Chrysler that burnt down near us was the old GEM division that Chrysler sold to Polaris.

You'll hear about that a lot. There was a recent article out that twisted the facts about how an ICE car is more green than an EV. It's all spin and out of context quotes. People will do and say anything to avoid change and cling to the old unsustainable ways.
