Hi all,

looks like my i-MiEV has finally bit the dust. She won’t go into ready mode, won’t charge and i’m almost positive the slow cells in the pack have turned into a dead module. Codes P1A56, P1A30, P1A39.

either way i’m kind of over it now.

For sale is my 2012 i-MiEV SE, 42,500 miles. $1500 obo. I’m in central Ohio in Columbus. It will need towed away.

Hate to see her go!

Given the low (ish) mileage it’s more likely that your issues are caused by a faulty CMU5 rather than a bad cell? A perspective buyer might also be interested in the reported battery capacity (Ah).
 
I’m really glad I saw this post: I did some more diagnosis,

It looks like it’s CMU05, but I don’t think it’s the board itself — there’s no real cell dropout, just ONE cell, that is holding at 0.39v if my scan tool is to be trusted. Specifically cell #36.

I’m on the fence again, if i should give it up. The battery’s not great, 28.3Ah which is 61%. Finding a LEV50 cell seems impossible.

I’ve only ever seen one example where such a low voltage reported was “real’, it’s far more likely to be a faulty channel on CMU05.

Unfortunately, the only way to know for sure is to remove the HV pack and measure the ‘offending’ cell’s voltage, might not be worth the effort given the low SoH.

For testing purposes, you could use a CAN bridge (sounds a lot more complicated than it actually is) to correct the voltage of cell #36 and then try to charge the battery..
