    iMiEV CdA?

If I get a new job that requires freeway commuting, I will definitely try them. It looks like I will need to mount them on the roof-proper, not on the top of the hatch, because they might not clear when opening the hatch. Archie, does that sound right to you? Also, do you think there would be...

    Range question

Plankton, You also didn't mention elevation gain/loss over the drive. Hills will take more energy to get over than the savings you get going down the other side, so it's something more to consider. Jenn

OMG - 99 miles RR - where is the picture?!?!?!?! Jenn

steering wheel toggle for drive mode

I've just started playing with driving more in D mode in "slow and go" traffic, as opposed to my usual E mode, after reading comments in this forum. I can see the benefits. I still shift to E after I come to a complete stop, so I don't jack-rabbit start, but it's more like coasting when I lift...

    Range question

Whoops, I see I read the original posting wrong - 60 miles r/t each day would have me worried. Do you *have* to use the freeway, or could you use surface streets the entire way? Any plugging in at all would definitely help, even 110v. Jenn

    Range question

How fast do you need to drive on those freeway miles? I'm looking at 20 miles each way, potentially, in the HOV lane, which might be quite fast. If I can't make it at speed, I'll have to move over into a slower lane. But I don't think I'd worry about 15 miles each way. Good point...

    Maximum Range Remaining

Ohhhh, I maybe could have beat it! After our long drive on Sunday, I set the charger to charge for 4 hours (the SOC was at 3 bars). When I got in it today, RR showed 95! I'm not sure it was fully charged, although there were 16 bars. In theory, I might have been able to beat 96. How do I...

i-MiEV Prototype in 2012 Pikes Peak International Hill Climb

Here is a picture of one of the two Mitsubishi entrants into the Pikes Peak Hill Climb. The second is supposed to be a relatively stock i with a more aerodynamic front bumper - I'd like to see that! http://www.eurotuner.com/news/eurp_1205_mitsubishi_electric_vehicles_2012_pikes_peak/index.html...

    iMiev oddities

Hi Don, Yes, I've only used the AC once, but I use the fan a lot :) That's great range on your drive! We just drove 65 miles yesterday and returned home with 18 miles RR. We drove about 12 miles on the freeway, the rest was on surface streets, with stretches of long and straight with few...

    From Lurking to Owning, Finally!

Congrats on your new i-MiEV! I agree with Joe that the pre-heat/-cool does work on L2 charging. On the road, I actually see about an 8-10 mile hit on RR when I use the AC, on par with using the heater. Does it make a difference on RR given how hot it is when you use the AC? I've only tried...

    iMiev oddities

Actually, I tried having a cup in the cup holder while the fan was on and it didn't block the airflow nearly as much as I expected. In fact, it was pretty much a non-issue. Jenn

Agree! I'd love it if the car would coast when letting off the go-pedal. Jenn

Speed vs. Power Gauge: Request for Data

Hi Joe, I agree with dumemama, there is a large penalty for accelerating, but holding a speed, once attained, is pretty low-cost barring changes in elevation or wind resistance. I don't think I could hold the car at a full tick for too long on a flat road with no wind, I'd be constantly...

    Level 1 EVSE

You can check if Tucson EV has something, I see an EVSE there for $675, but I'm not sure if it's released yet: http://www.tucsonev.com/TucsonEV-SE.html. It's a mounted EVSE, not just a small box on a cord. They converted my old Avcon EVSE to a J1772 EVSE and it works just fine. Jenn
