    iMiEV Acceleration Times

The international spec i-MiEV does 0-60 in 11.9 seconds according to Wired. The 2010 Prius does 0-60 in close to 10 seconds per Edmunds, but it does so far less efficiently due to the combustion engine. A more reasonable comparison would be towards the subcompact Chevy Spark EV which might do...

Getting more potential EV drivers into the i-MiEV

Bravo! Zero to sixty times are far more significant for aggressive driving when measured in kilometers per hour. I know there's a degree of machismo in my own EV exploits doing long distance drives to Portland, blasting around the passes or driving out to Wenatchee with the other US-2 rally...

Getting more potential EV drivers into the i-MiEV

One may work around this to a degree with site specific search on Google: [site:myimiev.com Side Car]

Getting more potential EV drivers into the i-MiEV

If you want to maintain some level of anonymity/pseudonymity on G+, create a minimal profile and then make a page ("Yet Another EV Driver" or whatever you wish). I have a few of these which I keep disconnected from my personal G+ account insofar as I don't comment on my own threads with them...

Getting more potential EV drivers into the i-MiEV

A note on the subject of the G+ community, I find the use of this forum by phone and tablet to be quite tedious. I'm glad that the forum exists but I tend to contribute mostly through a device with a large screen and a non-mobile browser. The search feature is also far nicer: I couldn't search...

Getting more potential EV drivers into the i-MiEV

I've been exploring ways to get more drivers into the i-MiEV and here's what I've come up with so far: * Posting about the experience of owning and driving an electric car in various places, mostly on Google+ where I've created a Community for i-MiEV drivers * Offering rides to friends and...

    Regen-free driving mode

I would think that Mitsubishi prevents this sort of modification to avoid having drivers overload components. I've submitted the request for a "no regen" option via several channels, but I doubt it will be implemented by the OEM.

Maximum Miles Driven In One Day

Here are some pictures and a mini trip report from that journey: https://plus.google.com/u/0/108161928669055573248/posts/arRqfjRr8ZQ

Maximum Miles Driven In One Day

To be fair, driving 352 miles from Seattle to Portland and back on DCFC and L2 would be the record (also held by YT). The three pass blast would be the record for maximum elevation gain in a day of greater than 12000 feet.

    Three Pass Blast

I didn't think I'd have much competition for chargers along the route. There was no way to reserve chargers other than announcing the trip in a few places and hoping to catch the attention of anyone else planning the same trip. This is an issue we dealt with during the EV rally along US-2 by...

    Three Pass Blast

If I do indeed hold that title it should be for driving to Portland and back in a day: that's 350 miles.

    Three Pass Blast

I technically didn't need any cards as the chargers I used could be activated remotely but it's always a good idea to carry one's own. AeroVironment maintains the quick chargers around the state outside of the greater Seattle metro area. I had their fob and also a ChargePoint card for Stevens...

    Three Pass Blast

Absolutely! Using all 5 chargers is required to make the trip in a day. I did a combination of L3, L2 and L1 charging although I wouldn't have needed to stop at the Nason Creek Safety Rest Area or the fudge shop if I'd stayed at Stevens for another half hour. The traction tires decreased the...

    Three Pass Blast

I'm going to try and cross Stephens Pass, Blewett Pass and Snoqualmie Pass this Sunday. I've put on a set of traction tires which are currently required for Stephens and will try to reach that pass this afternoon to test those out. That will be the most difficult climb per weather conditions...

    Skipping the home wiring inspection

I bought my i-MiEV from Younker Mitsubishi and didn't have a home wiring inspection. I currently rent and don't have a driveway, so the home inspection would have been totally moot in my case. After explaining this and signing a waiver, I finished the other paperwork and drove it home. I sent...

If your Mitsubishi Imiev dealer is over 60 miles away

One could always use their free tow truck ride for the first trip home. What did you end up doing?

    excellent i-MiEV review

I didn't have a home wiring inspection when I bought my i-MiEV. How hard is it to say "no, thanks"?

    EV Project?

No meaningful update, just a note that my problems with Blink DCFC continue. Documented by CASE 24861

Motor Trend mentions the i as a more worthy Beetle successor

Thank you for sharing, Don. It's good to keep our perspective around the evolution of automobiles both in how things have changed and also how they've stayed the same. I hope to see an even more rapid evolution of automotive technology. By the time my kids are in high school, I expect they'll...
