    Electric Vehicle Charging Etiquette

Sorry folks. I don't get it. Why do some EV owners feel they should be able to fuel their cars anywhere but at home, or at a fueling station? If EVs catch on, there will never be enough chargers in parking lots and malls, and the grid would not be able to support Everybody charging...

    Electric Vehicle Charging Etiquette

sigh.....which is why I am not much of a believer in public charging. I believe only in home charging or chargers at filling stations (you know, where people go to fuel up their cars). There is no such thing as etiquette anymore, nor should an alternate form of transportation be based on it.

Setting the Hand Brake every time you park ?

I almost never use it...perhaps when parking on a steep hill, but even so, it is not necessary. I consider it to be there in the event your hydraulic brakes give out and you need more stopping power...OTW, it's just something to forget when you take off driving...which I have done on my other cars.

    Airbag Warning Light

My airbag light has been on for some time. I did not hit anything, nor go over any big bumps that I can recall. I went to the original dealer, who is great by the way, about a month ago. They ordered and installed a new left front sensor, but that did not solve the problem. They then ordered...

Can you feel the steering linkage in the floor when turning?

No, but I sure do feel potholes. I'm shocked that I have not dented my rims or ruined front end parts. So it feels like hell , but so far, it is measuring up to the task.

    D, ECO or B modes

Basically, if you want a brake light when using regen...use the brake pedal. As long as you keep the needle somewhere below the maximum regen possible, you will not be using friction.

    D, ECO or B modes

Admittedly, it can be fun to play with the shifter under various conditions when slowing down...but the bottom line is, it is no different than using the brake pedal judiciously. The brake pedal is a continuously variable shifter.

    D, ECO or B modes

If your first statement were true...we would almost never have to charge up. The range on our cars would be hundreds of miles with the same battery pack. If you are cruising at 65 to 70 for some time, and you regen to a stop, you are never going to recapture 80% of the power you used...

    Range extender !

I would love a small auxiliary suitcase style battery pack, that I could put in the trunk. All I want is another 10 miles.

Anyone's family member hate the i-miev?

Our biggest family hate is the lack of heat in the winter, and how badly heat usage affects range. its definitely not a cool looking car, but boy, do I love the relative interior roominess and the ease of parking in a big city.

    D, ECO or B modes

You would have to make a round trip in each mode to make a determination of which mode might be more advantageous. A one way trip can be very misleading due to changes in elevation. Some of the more important tips to good mileage, no matter which mode are: avoid Jack-rabbit starts. When...

    Can't Connect Remote ?

Assuming everything is in order as the others have mentioned above, there is one more thing. It kept me stymied for a few months, and it is simple. When you turn the remote on, you must hold the power button until you hear the beep which can take 2 or 3 seconds, but when you give the command...

If I buy out of state will a local dealer do warranty work

So I had a little experience this week with a local dealer...that I did not purchase the car from. Oh, they were willing to take me in for an appointment... I haven't had the latest brake recall and the rust evaluation. And when I made the appointment, I told them I had an airbag warning...

    Battery only charging halfway

I'll be finishing three years with my miev in may. I have about 17k miles on it. I don't use canion, but I am getting the same RRs I was getting when the cat was new. I only charge with level 1. I only charge about every other day. About half the time I charge to 80%, the other half...

    Windshield Wiper Blades

I never thought once about it. But now that you mention it, I will say that the wipers cover a larger percentage of the glass than any other car I have had.

Let's Build the California West Coast Electric Highway

There will never be a an EV charging network as pervasive as gasoline stations. They will add the DC chargers when the cost comes down, and it is economically feasible (...free market). All of the mentioned "ideas" are nice, but not technically nor economically feasible...TODAY. Meanwhile...

Let's Build the California West Coast Electric Highway

I hate to be a Debbie Downer in this thread, but EV technology being where it is at the moment. .... The EV is a local driver. We should not be building a multi billion dollar charging network for a technology level that will be outdated soon. Charging stations should be built out of need...

2016 i-miev about to be announced!?

The 6.6 kwh charger would not interest me. There is ZERO public charging infrastructure where I am. I only go where I can within the 60 mile range (less in winter). Without a bigger battery...and the longer range that goes with that, I think the 6.6 would be a waste. I think the best...
