    Hypermiling the i-MiEV

I was asked by one of our new members to summarize my current approach to hypermiling and thought I'd post my answer to him - HYPERMILING SUMMARY Need to separate the hypermiling discussion into three categories: 1. City and suburban driving Featherfoot, always accelerating gently. ECO mode...

Commiserations, but at least you identified a bad cell. How do the others look under load?

New owner with cabin preconditioning questions

You do realize that the J1772 plug needs to plugged into the car from a live EVSE? I don't understand why it would take two tries to get your car going, especially after you had just run the heater/defrost which I believe also actuates the 12 dc-dc converter... ah, but the heater/defroster...

    WTB: Right Side Mirror Assembly

WARNING So, in response to the above request, I received a PM from someone (new member) claiming to know someone who has a mirror assembly that they can part with. They provided that person's email address... So, I sent an email to this person. They responded, so I sent them another email...

can a different tire size work ok?

jray3, I couldn't resist the price and just bought a couple of them. LRR is irrelevant in our kind of driving. If they don't work out I can always give them to the fellow to whom I gave my old Saab.

Hello george48, and indeed welcome to the forum. Which year and which model i-MiEV do you have, how long have you owned it, how many miles on it, and what typical fully-charged RR (Range Remaining) do you see? We have a very active, technically knowledgeable, and very respectful worldwide...

    i-MiEV Successor

Finally, the collaboration of Nissan and Mitsubishi is producing this nextgen full-electric Kei car which, sadly, we probably won't see in the US as the range using the 20kWh pack will be (ignorantly) criticized despite's the car's suitability for most people's daily needs...

    Winter Icy Roads

Regen gets progressively stronger going from N to D to Eco to B. B is the maximum but still weak compared to cars like the Bolt or Mini EV. In 2012 regen was much better than the Leaf's which is why I chose the i-MiEV. Agree with Toby that driving on snow and ice is an exercise in slowing down...

    Winter Icy Roads

@joemm210, don't forget you have four levels of regeneration with your shift lever, ranging from zero (Neutral) to maximum (B). Very easy to modulate to match the road conditions.

    Charging Remote

@joemm210, check out the post from @beamtetrode on 30 October just before your first one. He was responding to @jkontur who, I believe, had already made a deal. I found it a bit confusing but if I understood correctly @beamtetrode has a Remote for sale. You might send him a PM. In your climate...

    Charging Remote

Hi @joemm210 If you are in North America, all i-MiEVs sold here from 2012 onward came with the Remote. You might go back to whoever you purchased the i-MiEV from and ask if they still have it. BTW, it's always fun to know where in the world someone is located, as we occasionally find other...

End of life? options for iOn

@mbnvcxz, a belated thank you for following up and telling us about your happy ending. Delighted you were able to get your i-MiEV back on the road! The alternative of buying one's own Setec CHAdeMO charger in the US is nowadays prohibitively expensive, in no small measure due to...

New owner with cabin preconditioning questions

yahshoor, welcome to the forum. Yes, using Remote and L1 to pre-heat the car is slow, simply because of the limited power available using 120vac. As you noticed, using the defroster setting works better. You might give yourself 15-20 minutes to preheat the car and see how that works out...

Just out of curiosity: have you approached Mitsubishi?

i-MiEV Not AC Charging, (Was No DTCs), 12v dc-dc OK

Worsening availability - it seems to be hit or miss, with charging stations or CHAdeMO chargers occupied or broken. All CHAdeMO chargers are shared with CCS nowadays. What's especially vile is the number of (new) EVs treating these as parking spots in shopping centers without plugging in - my...

i-MiEV Not AC Charging, (Was No DTCs), 12v dc-dc OK

    - It turns out that I made a cockpit error and had not used my iCarSoft i909 correctly, as I indeed do have a DTC recorded; Reset the DTC, the car still won't charge, and the DTC came back. According to the MMNA service manual Section 54D-350 this is a communications issue between the EV-ECU...

    need spare key in USA

Inasmuch as the full-function replacement from Mitsubishi was over $300, this was my $63 solution (which is still sitting untouched in my spare key cabinet) - https://myimiev.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2932 There are a number of threads on this topic on this forum - use the search feature...
