They're not special at all, they're standard 151R car batteries you can get anywhere. Do not pay $400. A standard 151R fits perfectly and requires no adapters. You can replace it yourself. Personally, I had a hard time getting the positive terminal off the old battery, but otherwise it was trivial.

It's a standard 151R, not hard to find. I got one at Advance Auto Parts. I tried to get them to install it (they're supposed to do it free), but they were incompetent, so I ended up doing it myself: http://myimiev.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=23&t=3766

And now neither of them will be sold in the U.S. :( Yes, I've mistaken an illustration of the rear of a Smart for an i-MiEV before. I saw this idea posted once here before, but couldn't find it when I was looking for it the other day. It's not even mentioned on the i-MiEV's Wikipedia page...

Or -- here's a thought -- abolish the idea that road maintenance has to be funded by regressive user fees, and pay for it out of mostly-progressive income and property taxes, like the rest of the state budget. But that's beside the point, which is that this proposal is spectacularly out of line...

He refers to extended range (larger battery?) in the video -- and says it's one of only six (!) units with this capability. I hadn't heard of that previously.

This turns out to be more or less reproducible. I didn't realize it at first, but the outgoing trip is about 95% uphill.

I don't usually have an issue with the range remaining display*, but it did a couple of amusing things yesterday: 1. On a four-mile trip, I lost ten estimated miles (rather than 8) on the round trip... OK, whatever. But I lost 8 of those on the way out, and only 2 on the way back (same path)...

What does the error say?

I'd ask why the sales turned down, but I'm even more puzzled that the registrations stopped tracking the sales. People buying out of state?
