    Expensive LED bulb fiasco

I have replaced my daytime running lights with LED bulbs - they are much more effective (more noticeable due to the white light) and are still working 3k miles later... http://myimiev.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=2244 MW

How to install after market stereo in ES

Hi, My understanding is that the SOS button uses the standard stereo to allow the SOS operator to talk to the driver using a combination of the stereo's hands-free system and the CAN bus. If a non-standard stereo is put in the car it seems most unlikely that comms with SOS will still work...

Unreliable Ecotricity Chademo Charging With i-miev (Ion)

Well, I have good news to report. I have once again undertaken a trip to Devon and back from my home in East Herts - about 180 miles using the A10, M25, M3, M27 and A35 and can report no problems charging on a combination of Ecotricity's rapid chargers and Nissan's ones (at the Maple Cross HQ...

Replacing Filament Running Lights With LED Bulbs

My understanding is that they are identical - just 4" less between the light fittings on the Asian/Euro versions thna US ones. They are not monitored by the CAN bus either, so no issues with warning lights etc.

Replacing Filament Running Lights With LED Bulbs

Hi, Quick run down on the pros and cons:- Pros:- Much cleaner, white light which arguably makes you stand out a bit more and therefore safer Uses less power, 0.2A/2.4W @ 12.0V (bench PSU) Vs 1.2A/14.4W for the original bulbs (each - tho didly-squat compared to the 10kW+ the motor...

    Cruise Control

There are a couple of option for adding CC to the i-Miev - it's either a mechanical link to the accelerator using an electronic servo (used to be vacuum powered) and either tapping into the cars speed signal or adding your own in the usual way (magnets around the drive shaft) OR a much neater...

What do you think about DC charging stations?

From a UK i-Miev owners perspective, fast chargers (rapid chargers as they are refeerred to over here) are very definately what makes it feasible to own an EV as an only car - assuming you are a typical car owner and only do a very rare long drive - maybe 3 or 4 times a year over 200 miles...

    Let the Hacking Begin

Doh! I didn't try searching very hard, obviously. I was hoping it was going to be a but more interesting than that and explain why I had some issues with the kit but perhaps that difference is enough. At least I know now! MW

    Let the Hacking Begin

Well, I had a go with the MUT-III over the w/e. After figuring out how to get the thing to register my i-Miev as being connected rather than the 'Grandis' (whatever that is) that it thought my car was when I first connected it, I was able to reset the airbag warning light. It was apparent that...

    Let the Hacking Begin

Hi jjlink, I have the MUT-III without the card slot… as I said before I am a complete newbie here but have a reasonably well-rounded DIY electronics background so I hope to have a go with the MUT soon - I have other conflicting drains on my time at the moment. The MUT manual (on the...

    Let the Hacking Begin

Hi JoeS, Thanks for the reply. I am aware o CaniOn. It would be nice to be able to access all that interesting info but it would require some sort of at least semi-permenant display… perhaps one day I'll upgrade the standard bluetooth stereo to the big display alternative… As for regen, on...

    Let the Hacking Begin

Sorry to see that there appears to have been little progress on CAN hacking the i-Miev - mainly because of the existence of OVMS - Open Vehicle Monitoring System ( http://www.openvehicles.com ). This idea is basically a small box with GSM and GPS antennae which plugs into the CAN port of the...

OVMS for Mitsubishi i-Miev, Citroen C-Zero and Peugeot iOn

Just for the information of anyone considering a GeoSIM for use with OVMS in the UK (on an iPhone4, i-miev (Ion) installation, no SMS notifications as they cost 17p each!) I am seeing about 20p/day maximum data cost which amounts to about 100kb of data. Most days are somewhat less. MW

OVMS MODULE Interrupted Charging & SMS Vs IP Notification

Hi PV1, Thanks for the reply. Is there a better description about this than the one in the Tesla Roadster OVMS Hardware Module v1 and v2 Guide? What does an 'in app' notification look like? Please forgive my ignorance. MW

OVMS MODULE Interrupted Charging & SMS Vs IP Notification

Hi, Can anyone tell me what the last line of this MODULE command response means? Module: VehicleID:KP11RZV VehicleType:MI Units:M Notifications:IAT+CIPSHUT Also, if set up for IP notifications only (ie with SMS turned off) is one supposed to get email notifications? Lastly, it would be...

OVMS for Mitsubishi i-Miev, Citroen C-Zero and Peugeot iOn

Hi, Success! ...and thanks to those who helped… Using… https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/7144634/OVMS.X.production.hex.020214.zip … hex file on my version 2 OVMS module in my July 2011 Peugeot Ion (i-Miev), using a UK registered GeoSim sim card in my iPhone4, I am now getting the...

OVMS for Mitsubishi i-Miev, Citroen C-Zero and Peugeot iOn

Thanks for the replies. After I reset the OVMS module (by unplugging the ODB connector and reconnecting it) in response to STAT? I got 00:55:26 (time since last reset?) Not charging (it isn't) SOC: 0% (it should be near 100%) ODO: 7,319.0 mi (its only done about 4 and a bit K miles - is this...

OVMS for Mitsubishi i-Miev, Citroen C-Zero and Peugeot iOn

Hi, I am trying to get my Peugeot Ion (Mitsubishi i-Miev) working with my OVMS module using a GeoSim. I have configured it and can get SMS responses and an accurate GPS location report. However, in response to a STAT? SMS I am still only getting: xx:xx:xx Not charging SOC: 0% I also get:-...

Peugeot Ion (i-Miev) 'Peugeot Connect Assistance' Button

A-ha! Thanks for that. Not sure why the manual didn't mention "Got a problem with your car but don’t need the emergency services? Just press the Peugeot Connect Assistance button and you’ll be connected to our control centre over the system’s integrated phone. They’ll either help you sort out...
