San Bernardino Mitsubishi is giving consumers a chance to test drive the carmaker’s new i-MiEV electric vehicle today at the San Bernardino Auto Center from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Production on the U.S. model began in Japan late last month, and the five-door hatchback will be available in California and other western states this month. Distribution will continue to other parts of the U.S. and to Canada through next year.
The car can be charged from a wall mount and has a top speed of 80 miles per hour, according to Mitsubishi. It can drive 62 miles on a charge, or 98 miles in the city. Buyers may be eligible for a tax credit.
The electric vehicle has been available in Japan since summer 2009.
