What's this thing for?

We've had several threads for identifying quirky features of the car, perhaps this one can wrap them up. Today's discovery is that the gasser version of the car also had ports on both rear quarters. Where the L1/L2/J1772 inlet on the right rear flank is; used to be an air intake for the engine!

That is very interesting. Never thought about that, I just thought it was an add on. The exhaust looks strange, though. Did you notice the response buttons on the door handles? This one has the magic key, very nice. The interior is also very nice.
