i was expecting to see one big jelly roll like the dreamliner cells, but there are 2.

Interesting! - He calculates an iMiEV could have a 27 Kw pack made out of standard 18650 cells. I hope someone starts assembling modules using our OEM BMS modules so when the time comes, we have better options for replacement

Interesting that the "cell" is actually two paralleled cells. Looking at the opened package I don't see a fusible link between the two cells. My impression is that individual cell short-circuit failures are rare(?), although Tesla's configuration has such a fusible link on every one of their 74 paralleled cells.
