Adjust hand brake

Hello,

Does anyone know how to adjust the handbrake cable on the i_MiEV? I have a 2010 model.

Most cars have a little bead crimped onto the cable. The steel cable stretches over time, and usually needs a new bead crimped onto it. Not an expensive repair.

You have to remove the center console (easy---snap out the trim cover and remove the screws) to access the adjuster. The procedure is to first loosen the adjuster to get some slack in the cables, then (with the motor switch on) pump the brakes several times to make sure the self adjusters for the rear shoes are adjusted properly. Then tighten the parking brake cable adjuster until the parking brake applies with six to seven clicks on the handle. That's it!
