Hi Kiev, I don't think the jelly absorbs water, but if water gets in the chamber, I think think it sloshes around on top of the jelly. Somehow (I'm not sure how) it works its way into the jelly. I couldn't see any cloudy spots from the top, but some of the other photos clearly show water...
