Changed brake pads and still have the same 12V battery

Thanx Mickey. I haven't let it go below 2 bars. So I'll try that. -Barry

Changed brake pads and still have the same 12V battery

Great. I don't have that scan tool. The Mitsi Pocatello ID shop closed down (that replaced the traction battery). So I will hunt down a service shop that knows their Mitsubishis.

Changed brake pads and still have the same 12V battery

True. My wife and daughter used the "ECO" setting a lot and they drive it the most. I use the "B" setting because I love the regen. I have loaned the iMiev to nephews and they keep it in "D" so that it behaves closer to an ICE. At the 8 year mark I had to change the main battery. The main...

Changed brake pads and still have the same 12V battery

Wow. I haven’t been here in a while and the software changed. I had to update my security password. Anyway, my status is I have about 87k miles on the iMiev. At 85k I had to replace the brake pads since they were 10 mils! I’m still on the original 12V battery! That thing keeps going and going...

Caution - New old stock tires

Thank you for the tire info. I just replaced my tires this year and got them off Amazon since no tire shop here had the iMiev size. I better check my date codes! -Barry

Aptera Petition to adopt Tesla Charging Standard

The tesla super charger standard is limited to 250kW. At least the present CCS can do 350kW. This is important for an EV6. And if you travel cross country a lot, that 30% charge time savings ads up (EV6 compared to Model Y). I wonder if the CCS can even be adapted to 500kW in the future? -Barry

Bought a 2022 KIA Niro EV

This fuse is also powering a fan for cooling the battery during fast charging. At least that's what they're saying on other forums. And that's what the fuse labels hint at ("VESS, BATT_COOL_EXV"). Anyway, to be safe, anytime I charge, I turn "on" the fuse. -Barry P.S. Yes it turns off the...

Bought a 2022 KIA Niro EV

EV silence is awesome. I made it silent. I posted pics here: https://www.kianiroforum.com/threads/2020-e-niro-reverse-chime-defeat-for-us-cars.9643/page-3#post-95381

Bought a 2022 KIA Niro EV

Ahh.... The EV6.... 77kw battery. My next dream car. But too expensive. I like the 17 minute 80% charge time 8-)

Bought a 2022 KIA Niro EV

Hello Joe, “$7K arrogant local dealer's markup”. Yea, even my Pocatello and Idaho Falls dealer said these (and most of their cars) are selling above MSRP so they would have to mark it up. But my wife sweet talked them out of a mark up. It just seems weird to say “Yay! I got my car at MSRP!”...

Bought a 2022 KIA Niro EV

Wow. Idaho got a few of these in. Our iMiev has been dropping in miles. Our careful winter driving yields about a 35-40 mile range. It used to be 55 in the winter. And there’s too many times where we need to go farther than that. And thus enters the KIA Niro EV. It was the only EV in car lots...

    What tire would you recommend?

I bought four YOKOHAMA ICEGUARD IG20 tires from tirerack for a total (with tax) of $240. Then Yokohama turned around and mailed me a $60 VISA debit card. I had a local shop put them on for $80 two weeks ago. They look like great tires for the winter here. They have been driving quiet. Some...

    Battery Replacement - Lessons Learned

The ONLY thing I have done is add a little bit of distilled water to keep the level in between the 2 lines. And in my town the temperature has never gone above 98F in the summer. So the cooler weather may help. I’m just amazed how this classic 12v battery keeps on going. Knock on wood.,, -Barry

    Battery Replacement - Lessons Learned

Well, I’m another victim of a pack going south. On Aug 29th my car would only charge up to 13 bars. A week later --- 12 bars. Our Mitsi dealer is in Pocatello; about 50 miles. I had to cover the tow there because I couldn’t prove it was a bad pack. Luckily my Allstate card covered the whole tow...

    Illinois Insanity

From the OPs article: "The highest fees are in Georgia and West Virginia, each of which charges EV drivers $200 per year." They need to add Idaho @ $200/yr. Because of adding EVs in the mix, I'd suggest getting rid of all state gas tax. But it has to be done in all states so that border cities...
