    Driving in Snow

Hey brian, Im curious what are your heater setting that use on your commute ? If you can get 90 km of winter range at -20 deg C you must not be spending much energy on heat. Thanks Don....

    Will 12v heater work?

If you are not concerned with staying warm in the car then you can just blow the outside cold dry air on the interior windscreen with the defrost position of air flow. This works well even on cold days but the problem of course is that you get cold. If it's raining or very humid outside then...

Upgrading the heating system to bioethanol or Diesel fuel

Thinking about it I don't see any difference in plumbing to the top or bottom of the reservoir. Which ever way works for you. I know if you plumb to the top you dont have to drain the system to get the heater into the heating loop. As for the air flow in the heater core its pretty simple just...

Upgrading the heating system to bioethanol or Diesel fuel

It has been awhile since i tested the heater with a bucket but i believe that you need to short those wires and keep them shorted to have the heater run. In that way you could run the heater with a simple on-off switch but the timer and remote open up more options. if you want to install with a...

Upgrading the heating system to bioethanol or Diesel fuel

Most of the air heaters that i found are 2kw the water heater is 5 kw. The diesel water heater plumbs right into the existing heater loop all the controls face foot defrost work normally and you can heat the battery too if you are inclined to need that. I would think that an air heater install...

    Increase charging rate.

Hi Dani, Thanks for posting the pictures of the charger internals. It's really interesting what you are trying to do. I'm not a specialist in electronics but here are my thoughts on getting the second charger working. I think if you want to make progress on this you will need to understand...

Long Distance Travel Battery Thermal Concerns

Well i cant speak much about the flow of the ac to the battery but i do remember that when i had the fan on the highest position the battery temp was not really decreasing. In order to get the temp to decrease in those conditions i had to set it to max. I was blowing one click into the cabin...

Long Distance Travel Battery Thermal Concerns

I believe the highest temp cell did make it to 40 deg C on the last quick charge. It would be nice to have all the cells below 30 deg c but you know they say 40 is the new 30 so i guess if all the cells are below 40 deg c on a trip like this then you are doing well. Don....

Long Distance Travel Battery Thermal Concerns

Well I'm on vacation again this week so another long distance iMiev trip this time 295 KM (184 Miles) into the mountains north of Montreal. Thanks to the government program quick chargers are popping up like mushrooms all over the province. They are all on plug share. Mount Tremblant is 130 KM...

    Imiev efficiency on the highway

Well now I'm curious. My GPS says the Speedo in the car is slow 2-3 KPH. Frosty's radar sign says it's fast..... (maybe that offset the radar to get people to slow down ?) Anybody else want to test with a GPS and chime in ? Thanks DOn.....

    Imiev efficiency on the highway

I recently watched this video http://youtu.be/ubDItYYrtZ0 And i thought i would try this on the imiev for comparison sake. I did 4 runs on a 7km mile stretch of the highway 2 at 80 km per hour and 2 at 110 km per hour. I did the runs in both direction to compensate for wind and elevation...

Long Distance Travel Battery Thermal Concerns

Hi Brian, Yup i do it manually as described somewhere here on the forum with a picture also. Joe sorry i didn't explain the graph more. But it is as you mentioned a spike of about 4 deg c during quick charge and then a taper down while cooling the battery. I dont remember exact numbers but...

Long Distance Travel Battery Thermal Concerns

Well I did another road trip. 302 KM (188 Miles) total distance four QC of about 30-80% about 65% highway and 35% secondary roads. I would have loved to show another map but I forgot to enable the GPS on the phone so the tracking did not work. It was from Montreal to Valcourt to visit the...
