    Sideswiped

Great find with the right color! I did the same thing about 30 years ago on the drivers side door of a Renault Encore. Not a hard swap :D

Thinking about buying a 2012 SE model with 5500 miles

Buy the evbatmon app for the I-miev in the google (or apple ios i think) store, get the proper obdc bluetooth adapter and take a look. Canion, also as it'll show all the cell voltages. Evbatmon reports the capacity in Ah. The app and the adapter will cost you about $75 As long as the cell...

    Portable CHAdeMO

Exactly, the inverter driving the motor generates ripple. The inverter using the motor as a generator to dynamically brake generates ripple. The dc-dc stepping 300+ down to 12 generates ripple, the charger in the car rectifying dc to ac and stepping up 240 to 400+ volts. Yes, this portable...

    Portable CHAdeMO

I'll take that as a no, you just like to be argumentative and inject red herrings in the form of scientific papers which basically say 'hey, driving your car generates ac ripple which causes the battery to degrade a little faster than in a lab setting with a pure DC load.'

    Portable CHAdeMO

Interesting paper. Is there some reason in particular you are focusing this issue on this portable charger? There is ac ripple inherent in every subsystem of every EV unless you go back to the early 1900's system of switched resistors and dc motors for speed control. inverters, dc-dc...

    EVBatMon Readings

I saw your report yesterday so I figured I'd do the same. I had a fairly intensive driving day with a trip for breakfast, one for a medical appoint with my son in the morning then to work and back in the afternoon. Still had 7 bars left so when I went out foe takeout for dinner I drove really...

Could you make the pic a little bigger, trying to identify the gravel in the tread?

    Portable CHAdeMO

It takes some beefy components for the power levels, it's never gonna be the weight of your cell phone charger ;). If something fails at 10Kw+ I'd want it in a metal box rather than a plastic one. Speaking of which, what look tells you it is poor quality? Maybe it is, maybe it isn't but it...

    Portable CHAdeMO

That is pretty cool. Unfortunately I 'used' my one time max $900 state EVSE rebate. But the 30% federal credit would still help cut down the cost. $2,625 (after 30% tax credit) is still a bit pricey but not totally out of the question...

Petition Ecotricity to make their charging prices fair

So, how often did you use these fast chargers when they were free? Would you be 'happy' if they reduced it to 4 pounds for 20 minutes since this car cuts off at 80%? Or would you still be upset at the 'injustice' of having to pay more than it costs you to charge at home a few times per year...

Number of Miles charged per hour

When I use the Charge point station on the way to the dealer it reports 3.0 Kw @ 208 volts (3 phase wiring) and estimates 12 miles per hour. 3,000/208=14.4 amps. Canion reports 12 to 13 amps at home on the 16 amp Clipper Creek EVSE @240 volts, battery at 50% SOC...

Number of Miles charged per hour

Level 1, stock charger is more like 4 miles per hour.

    Chevy Bolt production version

Wrong question, who commutes over 200 miles in a day? The right question is something like "I've got a long 50 mile each way commute, how long to recharge each night? 4 hours" That'd cover all but a few percent of usage for pretty much anyone. Doesn't matter how fast the fast charge is...

    Chevy Bolt production version

That new DC Fast charger looks great. Power is not so high but @ 50 amps off 480 3 phase I bet it can be installed in most any commercial location. As far as 6.6 Kw being too small, I don't know. Seems fine to me, 10Kw would be new, more expensive and fairly overkill for daily use. Give me the...

Purchased today, on the way home :)

Today was a 77 mile day. Started off with 67 miles on the RR @ around 9:30 with my normal Sunday am rounds totaling 15 miles, took my son out for 20 miles and 40 minutes worth of driving practice, then off to work for a few hours. Arriving back home with 51 miles driven and 16 remaining on the...
