New Owner - Ben got an iMiEV - Again!

I was able to install the LED daytime running lights. Here's a full write-up on it, including photos: http://300mpg.org/2016/01/07/led_fog/ I got some pretty inexpensive bulbs off Amazon.com ( http://amzn.com/B00TEPTQN4 ) They didn't exactly fit in place of the original DRL bulb. There's a bit...

New Owner - Ben got an iMiEV - Again!

Some of these numbers may be good to know when dealing with the unenlightened. You know... the folks who tell you to put a wind-turbine on your roof, so you can drive forever! "Why don't you convert all the lights to LED?" is a VERY common question that I've gotten on some of my original EV...

New Owner - Ben got an iMiEV - Again!

I figured that the power savings would be SO MINIMAL that I didn't even bother to do one. Just for fun, let's do it right now! The normal license plate bulbs are 5 watt bulbs. The new ones are 220ma. 22ma at 12V is 2.64 watts. So, not a huge savings The LEDs are slightly less than twice as...

Loaner cars from Dealer when recall work is being done ?

I just had recall work done at Gary Lang Mitsubishi in McHenry, Illinois. It's a fair-sized dealer, one of those places with 5 or six different brands of cars all at one location. The recalls were for the impact sensors, vacuum pump, and underbody corrosion. The dealership had my car for a...

New Owner - Ben got an iMiEV - Again!

Now that I finally got my car back, time to keep tinkering with it. I upgraded the dome lights and rear license plate lights to LED. http://300mpg.org/2016/01/01/led-lighting-upgrade/ I'm very happy with the look of it. The incandescent bulbs just felt so 20th Century.

Adding LED Dome lights in the cargo area

I just upgraded the dome lights and rear license plate lights with plug-n-play LED bulbs, but I'm sure I'll be doing some more LED work in the future. http://300mpg.org/2016/01/01/led-lighting-upgrade/

New Owner - Ben got an iMiEV - Again!

My car has the fancy audio system. I believe that it DOES play DVDs! I had my smart phone with me and was able to fool around on Facebook and some other online shenanigans while I waited. I was originally planning to bring a book, and realized 10 minutes after I left for the trip that I forgot it!

New Owner - Ben got an iMiEV - Again!

I got my car back yesterday! The dealer had my car for 20 days! I was told that much of that was waiting for parts, and then "well it's the holidays...". I had three recalls worked on. Vacuum pump, impact sensors, and underbody rust package. I also had them make an extra copy of the key and...

    Recall: AIR BAGS:FRONTAL:SENSOR/CONTROL MODULE

My car is in the shop right now for the airbag, brake vacuum pump, and underbody rust recalls. I dropped it off there about a week and a half ago. At the end of last week, I got a call from the shop saying they still didn't have the parts in yet. I agree with the earlier commenter about how...

Using I Miev for backup power unit

I think an Open Source Vehicle to Grid project is something just waiting to be tackled. Especially if it was designed so it could be used by iMiEVs, LEAFs, and all the most popular electric cars. Not that I'm an electronics guy, but it seems like it would have to be through the quick-charge...

New Owner - Ben got an iMiEV - Again!

Yes, JoeS, I usually try to update stations on PlugShare when I can. You never know when somebody else will need a station and it can be really handy if somebody else has recently checked on it. JRay - too true. And yeah, driving around Michigan was a blast! Besides the outstanding recalls...

New Owner - Ben got an iMiEV - Again!

Unfortunately, the wheels and rims from the flooded iMiEV were already sold to another forum member sometime back, before I got my working iMiEV! While our Prius has the hands-free key fob system. If the battery in fob quits, you can still stick it in the dash as though it were a key. Inside...

    iMiEV as workhorse

Also good for hauling firewood. Here, I have 8 bags of construction "waste" cut-offs and a piece of plywood.

Now, here's the blog entry on what I DISLIKE on the iMiEV! http://300mpg.org/2015/12/07/what-i-dont-like-about-the-imiev/ But to be fair, none of the dislikes are that bad. A few of them are just personal preferences or quirks.

New Owner - Ben got an iMiEV - Again!

Thanks! I put this same link on Facebook. A Facebook friend of mine actually IS a professional car reviewer. He simply replied. "This is the worst car I ever reviewed." Ouch! Nope. No details for why or anything. Generally, I have quite a bit of respect for this guy, but that one just seemed...

    iMiEV as workhorse

I've always loved hatchbacks for the way you can haul such surprisingly large cargo with them. I've only had my iMiEV for 2 weeks, but It's been great for both an 8' step ladder and the set of snow tires for our Prius. I look forward to getting a towing package for the car.

    Canion

It has bluetooth. Even looking at specs for other phones and tablets, I was surprised at how many devices of course have bluetooth, but it's not listed right away in the specs. EDIT: Thanks PV1. Navigating to this thread on the web browser on the tablet, I was able to get to that link, then...

    Canion

Hello! I just recently got myself an iMiEV. I was hoping to use the CANION software. I am NOT an Android user, so I had to go buy an Android device, get it set up with my Google account, etc, etc., only to realize that when I went to get CANION that the device was incompatible. The device is...
