    Let the Hacking Begin

I looked at the E-Trailer “Electric (I.C.E) Pusher”. I don't see the point of it. Electric power assisting an ICE will just push it more into the horribly inefficient zone of operation. Unless the gearing is massively modified to have an extreme overdrive so the almost no excess power is...

Or you can make it a range extender trailer somehow?

    Let the Hacking Begin

What are your plans? The worst thing about the i-MiEV is the high drag body, so it's a great starting point to make a roadster. If you could find an old beater Saab, MG, Triumph, Karman Ghia, and transplant the body... The beautiful Porsche 550 Spyder would be my 1st choice Keep it light...

    iMiEV as workhorse

Something is wrong if that much heat is released. Were the sleeves melted just a on the surface from a flash of heat (more likely imo) or really melted deep in which case the hands would have been burned also. I would expect lightweight polyester to melt faster than skin burns. Moisture in...

    iMiEV as workhorse

The airbag will deploy much gaster than anything can melt. Don't count on melting to help. 0% chance of that.

How do I move the driver's seat back further?

I'm going to look at the brake pedal but it's probably safer to move the seat back.

How do I move the driver's seat back further?

After increasing my leg fitness a lot now my right leg is cramping up when I hit the brakes. I looked at the 4 attach seat bolts. Seems not too difficult to fabricate 4 short plates that shift the seat back about approximately 1.5 to 2 inches (Need to measure before fab...). Moving back...

    Wheels, Rims, and Tires

You could swap the front wheels to see if the pull switches direction. Also check if your tires are installed symmetrically, left being a mirror of the right.

    Airbag Warning Light

I had to take my i to the dealer to clear the airbag light. The only possible thing that I can think of was maybe the 4 rear light fuses I pulled to try and find the license plate light fuse. Kind of annoying to have to go to the dealer.

    Range extender !

That's a cute trailer. I hope you don't get a stupid letter of the law ticket for towing your trailer in the wrong lane on the freeway. I'm not sure why that law exists. Some big box trucks are longer than your setup and they can go in any lane. If thin film high efficiency PV's were not too...

L1 charge port door always unlocked mod

Good idea if it fits in that tiny space without obstructing the charger. Seems like the a good option to leave unlocked for most people. Is j1772 security an issue at all? I don't see how . http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SAE_J1772 "The J1772 standard includes several levels of shock...

L1 charge port door always unlocked mod

Mine only is open about 1/4 inch or a cm. I didn't like that either, but I would have to spend more time experimenting. I was thinking of fine tuning the shim thickness so the lock engages slightly to hold the door in, but not locked.

    pvc pipe hood support

    I found it. It's tiny.

    pvc pipe hood support

That sounds too easy to find! I'll look again, but I think mine is missing.

L1 charge port door always unlocked mod

I got tired of forgetting to unlock it and i park in secure areas. So I made a little plastic doohicky (goes behind release handle) to keep the cable pulled just enough to allow the door to stay unlocked. I will post a few pics later.

    pvc pipe hood support

maybe I need to rtfm but I could not find the hood support. So I made one out of super thin pvc 1/2" pvc pipe Now I can check the brake fluid easy!

Custom 11 lb hitch receiver adapter

Thru bolts should not be longer to not interfere with bumper foam. I used a little spray can polyurethane foam to hold the loose bumper foam. The bumper foam was already loose from the factory so that would hold it a little better.

Custom 11 lb hitch receiver adapter

The screws in the above diagram upper plate area (shaded grey) go into the back of the steel bumper. I used two 1/4" x 2-1/4" thru bolts at the lower corners of this screw area to insure that if the self taping screws loosen, the bolts would be a backup. I forgot to include dimensions for...

Custom 11 lb hitch receiver adapter

The 1st post is everything you need except the plate notch dimensions, and the tube length and plate location on it. I'll get those and post...
