my 2013 Peugeot iOn will not charge :(

The lids of the boxes under the boot have a sealant type stuff on, its not a gasket. You prise the lid off and it breaks the seal. Also the orange "fuse" under the passenger seat can be removed without taking the seat out - just push it back as far as it will go and its possible to unbolt the...

    12V consumption and range increase

Hi all, I have thought about this before - I found that the brake booster uses a lot ofamps, like 30 or 40 amps. I read of someone that had a failed booster and had to replace it - they said the new one was a lot lower power consumption. The booster does not run all the time but it would save...

P1A15 fault on a Peugeot Ion

hi there, i have seen on the forums a failure of the pre-charge resistor itself, located inside the battery pack.... found it here - https://forums.aeva.asn.au/viewtopic.php?t=5788 It also details the location of the charge capacitor - so for some reason the capacitor on your car does not...

When to be concerned about Ah number

Yes that is me ! There are only 66 temp sensors for 88 cells so the temp sensors are not evenly placed, some variation can be expected. Your Ah figure is normal for the year. As long as the cells are fairly evenly matched at a low state of charge then its just natural degredation. Thanks.

Repair Service (Exchange) for Charger DCDC Converter

Hi. I'll put some pictures on but i doubt its repairable, a hole has burned right through. Im comfortable with repairing electronics and I know some good repair guys who can do the stuff I can't. Cheers. Gary.

Repair Service (Exchange) for Charger DCDC Converter

Hi there, I am in the UK and would love to buy some circuit boards from US chargers !!! The main board which seems to fail is the one with the big 3 capacitors on it, and I have a failed charger in my garage that has a hole burned right through the circuit board ! So far no warranty...

When to be concerned about Ah number

What does the warranty state about expected degradation? 35.6Ah is about right for the age of vehicle, that is about 77% battery health (based on 46Ah for a new vehicle). I doubt the warranty protects you against natural degradation, i've heard about pack replacements under warranty but that...

Turtle at Half Charge Under Load?!?!?!

This is generally caused by a battery cell going bad. Turtle is triggered by low voltage on a battery so even though the car has plenty of charge, one cell's voltage drops when it is used. What country are you located? Thanks.

    The aftermarket cell replacement saga

These look familiar !!!!! https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32888613944.html Unfortunately the reviews say they are 40Ah version (LEV40).... damn it ! These are a good size and rating, unfortunately fairly expensive. https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32906459897.html Cheers all, keep up the good...

    The aftermarket cell replacement saga

It is difficult to know whether these new cells are good or not, whether they are well made. I am always suspicious of the capacity rating, i've seen too many 18650 cells with "9800mah" which is impossible. These cells are within the size of the originals...

I would like to set the charge current lower than 5A

Hi there ! The charger will just not run at such low amps and it is very inefficient. There is a 600w overhead during charging, this is from running the electronics, voltage conversion, water cooling pump, monitoring and balancing inside the battery, etc. That means at 240v approx 2.5A is...

    The aftermarket cell replacement saga

Hi there, fascinating work. I would say that the spray foam will not help with cooling so would be better to pack it with some blocks to hold it in place but allow air around it. Of course time/necessity often doesnt allow perfect repairs and it did the job. I've done the LTC voltage...

Using a second pack in parallel

Its a lot of complex work to have a trailer like that RAV4 one. What I have considered a couple of times is how much power is consumed on the 12v side during a full discharge. What would be fairly easy would be separating the 12v system so that the dc-dc converter does not top up the 12v...

Using a second pack in parallel

Hi there, Good to hear you have some previous experience, I worry a bit when I read a question like that ! Even using an Anderson SB with a cover you can't really consider that safe to be powered up when not in use - the only safe way I can see this working is to install a contactor box in the...

Using a second pack in parallel

You need to be incredibly careful.... we are talking 50Kw at 400v... You'd need to be sure that your connectors were extremely secure and cope with the power without getting hot, water ingress is also a factor due to rain. There is also the issue that when you are not using your range...

Need to purchase obc unit for 2012 i-miev

Hi there, Have you investigated what has failed inside the charger? Often its possible to repair them. Not always as I know of one that actually burned a hole in a circuit board but often its repairable. Im in the UK and it looks like failed chargers will beat failed cells in being the part...

Used On-Board Chargers for sale in Japan

What is interesting is that the charger/dc-dc units are all flat topped versions, even the one that says 2015. Here in the UK 2009 and 2010 chargers were flat topped, after that they had an additional smaller box on the top. Maybe they were always flat topped in Japan?

    Shifter starting to have problems

From what i've read, issues like this were resolved by greasing the linkage at the motor/gearbox end. There are 2 sensors and if they disagree it causes you issues. Thanks.

Best value software & hardware to diagnose car

Hi, I used an icarsoft i909 to diagnose a failed LTC voltage monitoring chip on my 2011 i-miev. The detail it gave on errors was very good. They are around £90 new but I found one for £50 second hand. Thanks.
