    Battery Capacity Testing

    Battery Capacity Testing

There are two results of my i-MiEV that are in the red line. That are the real results, without tricks. And two false results, one with the car giving less 10% of SoC then it had in the reality, and one giving more 5% of SoC then it had in the reality. By the way, my turtle come to light at 9,5%...

    Energy vs %SOC or Wh / 1%Soc

Sorry, I wanted to say, my charge value is 108 Wh - 1% SoC. I corrected my last post. Again, 108 looks very similar. 115 is also a low number, I have no doubt that there will be some of us with 124 Wh, or even a higher number. I have no doubt that two years ago my value was over then 125 wh, 1%...

    Energy vs %SOC or Wh / 1%Soc

I will do the charge test in my i-MiEV. Surprised with yours 1% charge value. 110 Wh is a low number. My value, is about 108 Wh, so almost the same thing, but mine with almost 5 years and 84.000 km. And the last value I saw in my battery, from june this year, was 35 Ah.

    Battery optimization

"but I saw yesterday my car stopped at 8% SOC and many cells close to 2,8V. Really concerned... Any thoughts about that?" Your car is doing many miles. That's what we should do with it. I suppose your car will have the battery many times at 30 ºC. So, one rate of degradation of 4%/year will be...

    Battery optimization

"My friends C-Zero, year 2011, 14.000 km, averaged 148Wh per 1% SOC, so his value for 5% is 740Wh." The value shouldn´t be so high. I presume the car had recalibrated is capacity for a value higher then the original one. Now, your friends car will stop not with weakest cells at 3,6 V, but at 2,75V.

    Battery optimization

620 Wh is the most common value, I think. I think with a new one we should see that value. And in a new one the weakest cell will be around 3,5 / 3,6 V at 0,0% of SoC.

    Battery optimization

I also notice a drop of about 15% of range. Mine now with 84.000 km and almost 5 years. Can you tell me how much it charges from 50% to 55%, seen by Canion? Mine charges about 540 Wh.
  12. M

    Battery optimization

I think that will only result in a new capacity calculation, and only if the car is thinking that its capacity is less then it really is, the range will improve.

    Recall: AIR BAGS:FRONTAL:SENSOR/CONTROL MODULE

2011 european i-MiEV, the most famous here from outside north america, I suppose. No recall until now for that, neither for the MCU. No LEV50 with problems. Just the recall for the brake pump. A feel like the european 2011 i-MiEVS are the ones witch are giving less problems, only not have the...

    Charging paused

I think that the car usually makes this stops in charging in specific moments. When I begin to charge between 53% of SoC and 70% of SoC, the pause happens at 70 or 70,5% SOC (sometimes a little more). But if the charge begins at lower SoCs, this stop happens at 30% or 50% SoC. I never saw the...

    Battery Failure Data

I think that 2013 and after, all i-MiEVs have LEV50N, like the PHEV Outlander. Even the Peugeot Ion and Citroen C0 (the European clones) have the LEV50N since 2012 (I don´t know exactly the month of 2012 they made the change, putting just 80 cells on them). I believe that resistance to heat was...

    Battery Failure Data

I don't agree with the opinion of the very good reliability of the i-MiEV pack. At least for the 2012 year, because there are to much examples of failures. It´s possible that Japanese, Australian and European form 2010 and 2011 are more reliable, perhaps because they have, for sure, LEV50 cells...

    another battery failure

    another battery failure

No sign of a problem in mine, just the loss of capacity due to age. I had gone many times to turtle, and even to 0,0% SoC or even 2,75 V one cell. Usually charge to 100%, but usually don´t stay for more then 4 or 5 hours fully charged.
  19. M

    another battery failure

I would like to know how many 2011 i-MiEVs had a battery failure. Many of them are from 2012, I suppose.

Power Down Warning Light aka the Turtle

The problem is when the car can't evaluate correctly its capacity (thinks that it has 10% more). It will show turtle and stop immediately.
