I lost my remote climate control !

AFIK a lot of Mitsubishi's were sold or leased two years ago either because of the 10 K price reduction or the $99 two year leases. The two years started to come up last month so there are a lot of lease returns out there. If you want a cheap one and a good selection, now is the time to be...

    Battery air intake

The bottom line on this battery cooling thing is this---- 1. If you plug in the EVSE and hear a fan start and run for a few seconds and then stop, you have hit the lottery! This means that you either have a Chadmeo connector or the cold weather package. 2. You only have battery thermal...

    Battery degradation

If you look at some of my older posts you will find some more information on the battery in the I-MiEV. They are GS Yusa LEV-50 cells assembled into 10 eight cell modules and 2 four cell modules in the battery pack. The cells are unique to Mitsubishi as they were developed by a joint venture...

    Outlander PHEV thread

At the "reveal" of the 2016 Outlander this morning they stressed the 100 or so things that had been changed to upgrade the vehicle to be a "serious contender" with other SUV's in its class. It sounded like the existing model must be noisy and structurally weak as most of the comments by the...

I lost my remote climate control !

Just enjoy the car without the remote. It isn't worth a thousand dollars in features in addition to it's limited range, functions and counterintuitive operating mode. I've used it a couple of times and given up on it. Just my opinion.

Spare battery pack..... what to do ?

It's not to hard to parallel an additional pack and make it work. Sounds like the OP's car is a 80 cell pack, therefore he would need to remove one of the modules so the voltages matched. I only did it on a temporary basis to see if it would work (and it does) but the pack needs to be...

I think I broke my car

Have you driven it since the lights came on? You might have to drive a little bit without excessive wheel spin to reset those warnings. I had a similar thing happen when I jacked the back end of the car up and spun the rear tires to look for some tire runout. The ABS didn't like that and a...

I-Miev Ready Light Won't Come On

Now that the battery is charged, try disconnecting it for a few minutes and the reconnect it to let all the computers "reboot" and clear any temporary codes. If that doesn't do it, its time for a dealer visit.

    Gearbox problems.

The "gearbox" in the BEV I-MiEV is not related to the transmission found in the gasoline powered I-MiEV referenced in this thread. Not an issue for anybody with a electric I-MiEV.

    Let the Hacking Begin

If you think you are going to "hack" a I-MiEV and make something drivable out of it, I wish you luck. Everything is so intergrated in the electronics that the whole will not operate unless the sum of the original parts are in place and working. Believe me, I have spent many hours pondering...

    Fast Charging in Winter Experience

This is a little off topic but I need to ask a question. I noticed on the previous page in the picture showing near completion of the QC charge that the pack voltage was 364 and it was still charging at 18 amps. A 364 pack voltage is well above the battery voltage for a 100% charge when using...

shift selector stuck in park, need help and suggestion

The I-MiEV is equipped with a interlock that won't let the car be shifted out of park unless the key is in the run position and the service brake pedal is depressed. Most cars have an override for this function if something goes wrong with the system. The I-MiEV does not. The system is cable...

    Canion Battery Readings

I've looked at that line in the diagnostics before and think it would be an indication of capacity but not true capacity. I think that what you would be looking at would be the BMU's calculation of the capacity based on time since new, cycles and miles driven---not actual capacity. The actual...

    Canion Battery Readings

I don't know what they measure (total or available capacity) when they are doing the capacity test. However, it seems like it must be a total capacity test. The car never charges to the full 4.2 volts that the LEV-50 cell is capable reaching nor does it normally drop to the lower limit of 2.75...

    Canion Battery Readings

In answer to bobakka's 20% loss post, I would go back to the point that the BMU "masks" the battery degradation by limiting how low the cell voltages go until a minimum is reached and then the true capacity loss starts to be noticed. New I-MiEV's don't use all the available capacity of the pack...

A bad cell and a reduce range

Most likely the much longer recharge time you experienced when the cell was failing was the BMU trying to balance the voltage on the bad cell. As to replacing a cell in the pack after the warranty runs out, it remains to be seen if Mitsubishi will allow that. I think that an exchange...

Consumer Reports Got It So Wrong!

I just re-read the blogs about the Consumer Reports I-MiEV hatchet job. I am surprised how positive the majority of the posts were. This problem of perception will never go away along with the golf cart comments. I stopped in a gas station (no, not to get gas) and a guy came up to me who said...

    Canion Battery Readings

The nominal voltage of the I-MiEV battery is 3.6 volts not 3.7 which gives you 50 amps X 3.6 volts X 88 cells or 15,840 watt hours (got that right this time). This is from the spec sheet for the LEV-50 cell and is actually marked on the 8 cell battery modules. In addition, I had my car's...

    Dreamliner Batteries

There is a post on the Tesla form with a downloadable .PDF of the NTSB report on the Dreamliner battery fires. As most of you know, the batteries are made by GS Yuasa and are similar in construction to the battery cells in the I-MiEV. The report faults Yuasa for the problems due to...

    Canion Battery Readings

my bad (about the KWH vs. WH) . But just think how many miles the range would be!
