    I-Miev 2012, rear noise rumble

The difference is that a lug nut is removed with a lug wrench, whereas a wheel nut is removed with a wheel brace.

I'm buying a non-runner MIEV here in Japan!

That's a cute car--looks like a chipmunk with full cheek pouches  Looks like your scan tool is able to connect and collect some data about the various ECUs. Not sure what it needs to go all the way. Maybe some device driver for windows to find/talk to the VDI? Somebody with more...

I'm buying a non-runner MIEV here in Japan!

Could a made for Japan home market car use a different protocol? The OBDII requirement is a USA mandated spec, but other countries may not feel the need to follow the SAE standard for their home market cars. Maybe pull out the connector and check the wiring and pinout to verify. Here is an...

    The aftermarket cell replacement saga

It might be made to work if it fits into the volume available and can connect to the CMU boards. But not sure if the energy density of LFP would provide any increase in range, and the usable voltage range is outside of that programmed into the BMU. e.g. Max charge voltage

I'm buying a non-runner MIEV here in Japan!

Brake rotors likely rusted from sitting outside (mine do this) and a few miles drive usually scrapes and clears them.

Swapping OBC's as diagnostic - safe?

Wrong VIN is a show stopper. If it were my car i would put everything back into the car it came out of, then pull DTCs and do troubleshooting with those. This thread started with an off-hand question but has developed into a case of full blown car aids and the throwing of parts. Swapping...

Swapping OBC's as diagnostic - safe?

From what i understand, if there is a fault in the AC Input Section of the OBC, then it will fail to charge and there will not be a DTC reported. The OBC just sits there and times out and the EVSE shuts off its internal relay. The PFC chip is monitoring the AC input right before it enters the...

2012 iMiev charging problems. New problem

That is likely the cause of your issue, hopefully it can be recovered but 4 months is a long time for a dead battery. If you have a voltmeter measure the voltage.

I'm buying a non-runner MIEV here in Japan!

There's a J2534 thread on the forum that may be of interest. i think Piev has had good luck using the Tactrix Openport 2.0 device with a laptop to run a MUT software, worth looking into that solution. Also gary12345 has some video showing a nice large screen device. Have to search on his...

Repair shift position switch on gearbox.

Lots of lube (penetrating fluid) on the shaft and pry it from the rear with flat steel bars, as close to the shaft as possible. Spray lube on the back side to reach the shaft also. Buy a replacement beforehand especially if the current one just doesn't function at all and can't be driven as is.

That copper jumper wire doesn't look large enough to carry much current--must just be for bench testing?

I'm buying a non-runner MIEV here in Japan!

The MUT/Lexia/Diagbox tools are the OEM devices used by the techs at the dealerships. They likely meet or exceed the requirements of the SAE J2534 spec for pass thru programming, which defines diagnostic "modes" (e.g mode 06 or 09), and can read/write data and clear any codes. They consist...

I'm buying a non-runner MIEV here in Japan!

Did you purchase it from the scantool.net website, or a verified distributor? What type of screw head is used on your LX? There are counterfeits out there and they use a different screw and the guts of it use the ELM chipset--total fake out. They have an app for ICE cars, OBDLink, and it also...

Swapping OBC's as diagnostic - safe?

Here is a troubleshooting page for that code; i don't remember if it is a fail-safe code or if it disables the HV. It has quite a few possible causes. pdf of TSB for B1108 Do you have full fluid supply in the heater system? Do you have the heat switched ON? If so turn it OFF and clear, then...

I'm buying a non-runner MIEV here in Japan!

Would yall care to share your thoughts and opinions about the used EV market and used parts, salvage cars and parts, etc. availability and how that is handled over in Japan? Are there salvage yards that dismantle wrecks and sell off parts, or are wrecked cars sent to the crusher? i've tried...

Swapping OBC's as diagnostic - safe?

You're balls deep in the pool looking inside OBCs and diodes and wiring stuff, but what DTCs are showing up? What error pattern of the LEDs are showing on the EVSE? Oh it looks like Mickey beat me to it. Get the codes, then you can know where to look. e.g. if you have a HV error due to...

I'm buying a non-runner MIEV here in Japan!

OBDLink LX is a superior device in my experience. It uses the STM chip set instead of the ELM 327. Too many cheap fake flaky ELMs and too many reports of them not working. It also works in ICE cars with it's own app, OBDLink, and has nice dashboard option, dtc, etc. Overall just a great...

I'm buying a non-runner MIEV here in Japan!

As Mickey said the brakes might be rusted and drag or lock. There is mechanical interlock on the shifter, key has to be in ON position and brake pedal pressed in order to shift out of Park. Shift to N, then jack it up at each wheel and spin the wheel with one hand while grabbing the strut...
