I'm buying a non-runner MIEV here in Japan!

Yes end to end continuity check; not sure that resistance matters unless there is corrosion evident.

I'm buying a non-runner MIEV here in Japan!

i also suspect that the "old" or original MCU control board may be the source of the issue. Didn't realize that you were gonna be swapping the old board into the "new" mcu. You certainly like to do extra work, maybe slow down a bit and work smarter not harder. The old codes were stored in the...

I'm buying a non-runner MIEV here in Japan!

In the meantime IF you want to check the motor windings: shift to N and set the brake, disconnect the 12V and pull the cover off the MCU, check for no HV on the leads from the pack, [side note: inspection of low voltage signal wires can be done later while cover is off] back to motor windings...

I'm buying a non-runner MIEV here in Japan!

i suspect there is some wiring harness issue or connector issue because of the low igbt temperature reading, also the impossible high motor currents. Also the CAN buss error codes. Does the car start to READY mode? If so was the HV error (!) lamp ON or not? Did the HV error lamp come ON...

I'm buying a non-runner MIEV here in Japan!

i like the Permatex 24-hour cure "Ultra Grey". It is a form in place gasket (FIPG) material that contains calcium carbonate as the binder agent and can be easily removed. It seems closest to the OEM to me. It makes an oil and water tight seal on engine timing covers, oil pans, etc. They also...

Swapping OBC's as diagnostic - safe?

Good catch to find that bad fuse--sometimes you get lucky

2010 Japanese version may have info on the earlier car that we haven't seen before. i found the immobilizer writing of chassis number on the english version 2012, couldn't find it in the 2010 Japanese. Writing chassis number for immobilizer

Looking at a 2012 w/28k miles and almost fully depleted battery

i think a 51R (Laef battery size) is too big to fit--i made that mistake over the covid period. Pro-tip to save your sanity and wrists: remove all the harness straps and brackets holding the positive battery cable in place. They must have tightened it in place after the battery was attached...

I'm buying a non-runner MIEV here in Japan!

i don't know if you are an electrical guy or mechanical guy, or software, etc. so hard to know at what area to focus or advise, but There is a slow bleed-off resistor visible on the HVDC input buss bars in the top plenum (white ceramic), and a fast bleed circuit in the bottom plenum. Maybe...

Looking at a 2012 w/28k miles and almost fully depleted battery

You will need a good strong 12V battery to replace the old, weak or worn out one in that car, as the 12V battery warning lamp is lit. In many cases that is the cause for all the other issues and DTCs due to lack of CAN buss communication from the dead 12V supply. The main contactors in the HV...

I'm buying a non-runner MIEV here in Japan!

As mentioned earlier, The VIN is stored in the eeprom on the control board (bottom plenum) of the MCU.

I'm buying a non-runner MIEV here in Japan!

Knowing that if a VIN didn't match and was an issue that could potentially brick the car, well it might be a good idea to avoid doing anything to create such a condition if at all possible. Nobody knows the code for the operating system of these cars; nobody knows the code for the MUT tool or...

    C-ZERO Fault code P1A2A

Thanks for sharing your pictures and the root cause of the stalled motor/ blown transistor. Indeed it is a 3-phase motor, 3 sets of windings, totally unrelated to the use of the word "phase" used for the mains AC power lines.

i'm glad to hear that charging works okay, one less thing to worry about. That 2011 MCU looks like the same as the 2012 units. i didn't realize that you were going to dig in to the MCU or could have saved you some trouble with tips, but now you will be an expert with first hand experience...

I'm buying a non-runner MIEV here in Japan!

Have you read thru the technical information manual? It is online at the same site as the workshop manual. There are 3 FSM selections: body, technical and workshop 88 cells and 12 modules..hmm, how is that done...if only there was a layout diagram somewhere

I'm buying a non-runner MIEV here in Japan!

Good job to get the dongle working and making videos to show the process. The miev only has 88 cells, so the 117 makes no sense. i know you drained your pack from Full, but does your car charge properly with no DTC? The cover of the MCU can be removed without disconnect under the seat, if...

    C-ZERO Fault code P1A2A

Since you have a 2011, Open the MCU cover and inspect if it uses the same IGBTs as were shown in the other thread for a 2012. If so then they can be easily swapped. i don't think anyone ever figured out the check sum or CRC for the eeprom data. Plus you have that less-than-17-digits VIN so...

[ The P1A15 Troubleshooting Thread ] No READY. P1A15 error. Condenser charge timeout.

Good catch to find this Dexter. Thank goodness someone like ATI has stepped up to produce the discontinued isolation amplifier. Comparing the datasheets, the replacement device from ATI looks identical to the AD version. It is available in the SIP for $39 vs unavailable at $130 for the...

I'm buying a non-runner MIEV here in Japan!

For whatever reason, different society norms and customs, language, etc. i have never seen, heard or had interactions with Japan home-market car owners, on any EVs or ICE car forums--mitsubishi, nissan, toyota, suzuki, also bmw and tesla. Don't know why that is, or if the diy approach to...

I'm buying a non-runner MIEV here in Japan!

It seems that the 9499 prefix of the part number indicates that it is an electrical part for the mitsubishi EV, then the following letter and digits code refers to the ecu/device. Example, i have an MCU with 9499B415. i have seen many OBC units with various part numbers, also found this for...
