4 Steel rims, TPMS, and hubcaps

. . . . but, there are still zero 14 inch options for LRR tires, which is what most EV drivers would be looking for. Also, I would imagine it's pretty hard to find same brand, same model tires in the front and rear sizes (which would be important to me) especially when you have to source them...

4 Steel rims, TPMS, and hubcaps

That kinda, sorta flies in the face of reality. I drove a Miata for 20 years which came with 14" tires and eventually *most* owners had to upgrade to 15" wheels because the choice in 14's was so very limited, while there are still tons of great choices in 15's - Eventually, all the really...

New Replacement Traction Battery - Changes in Construction

Do we know for sure that the replacement batteries Mitsu is installing under warranty are actually 'new'?? Do we know for sure that they contain the newer LEV50N cells?? Has anybody (so far) actually opened one up to see what's inside? The battery warranty is for 10 years - If you get 9...

    Battery usage time calculation

When you think of inverters and what it takes to power them, remember it's a ten to one ratio. 1800 watts at 120 volts AC is 15 amps and that same 1800 watts at 12 volts DC is 150 amps . . . . plus, there is usually a 10 to 15% loss in converting from 12 to 120, so it may be more like 165 or...

    Battery usage time calculation

Google 'Peukert's Law' if you care to read more about this phenomenon Joe didn't mention it, but you really want to avoid pulling any lead acid 12 volt battery down to 10.5 volts as that damages your battery a good bit every time you do so and every subsequent discharge cycle will yield even...

    iMiEV in 2021!

Loss of battery capacity can be all over the place. High miles can be a big part, but so can how the car was treated. Many 2012's didn't sell very well, so they ended up on a $99 per month lease program after they had been languishing on dealers lots for a year or more and many of those sat...

    iMiEV in 2021!

. . . . and, it has the optional CVT transmission - Very rare!! Don

    how many motors ?

Since you're way more familiar with the differences in the packs than most of us . . . . how hard would it be to drop the pack from a non DCQC car and install that pack in an SE Premium with DCQC? Our original SE that we bought new has a much healthier pack than either of our SE Premiums which...

    Inspections!

Welcome to the forum! Congratulations on your new car :) True, dealers usually only see our cars for recalls, because there's not much required in the way of regular maintenance. If you even hint that you'd like your dealer to do anything besides replacing the brake vacuum pump, they'll no...

    EV Charging Port Locations

I agree ours is pretty good where it is - If it was center front like some other cars, it would be very inconvenient form us as we have 4 cars in our garage, but only 2 garage doors, so there's 2 on one side and 2 on the other and the front two are all the way in, up against the wall which...

    how many motors ?

Do they? My two SE Premiums surely do - You can hear the motors kick in as soon as you plug in the cars to recharge, but the SE we bought new has never done this - I assumed it didn't have the vent motor in it, and only cars equipped with DCQC came with it??? Don

    how many motors ?

I think the windshield wipers have a motor and so does the rear window wiper, so there's two more Don

    Aero mirrors ( new member)

The carbon fiber look on a silver car looks good! Are they electrically adjusted and electrically heated the same as the OEM mirrors? Don

    Seat heater switch-indicator bulb

I suspect the 'bulb' in the switch is probably an LED and isn't replaceable - A new switch is probably the only solution if you need an indicator (besides a warm tushy) that the seat heater is on ;) Don

    DIY Windscreen Defroster

Me neither - I've been here 8+ years and have yet to upload a single image Don

    VW ID.4 EV

As Joe can probably elaborate on, even when you own a Tesla for longer trips, it still makes economic sense to keep an iMiEV (or two) for your every day driving - They are much more practical vehicles for short range daily trips than . . . . just about anything else We have two 'long range'...

    VW ID.4 EV

I just don't see anything beating the value of a used, low miles iMiEV, and since we have three of them, we're not really in the market for any other short to medium range EV - I think the ones we have will last us . . . . pretty much forever Don

Range Remaining Lower at Full Charge

The difference could also be that occasional deviation from your usual round trip commute of 15 miles - Depending on where you went, how fast and so forth could cause your next recharge to be . . . . different I occasionally jump on the freeway for about 3 miles to go across the bay and when...

Battery pack replacement, complete 50N pack?

I *think* JRay3 has done this a time or two - I'm sure he'll chime in directly Don

    What tire would you recommend?

IMO, the iMiEV is a great 'second car' . . . . even when it's the one that gets driven 90% of the time. You can buy a more expensive car that you really like, whether that be a Tesla, a Corvette, a conversion van to travel in . . . . whatever, and that other vehicle will last you nearly forever...
