The Troubleshooting and Repair for On-board Charger (OBC) Thread

Hi Kiev, actually I have seen exactly the same because a guy with "too big hands...and limited brain lat me say" removed the control board without too much attention. Then he bring the OBC to me. I took hours for resoldering the connector as the location is not easy even using the right stuff...

OBC Swapping Gen1 to Gen 2

Hi Franco, It should work, I did the same with a 2018 gen 2 OBC on an old C zero of 2011. Please note that I sometimes got incompatibility with OBC from USA. Ciao Sandrosan

Planning ahead - which sparepart should I buy on my trip to Norway?

Hi Leena let me suggest you to buy a triplet not older than 2013-14 to be sure that the cells are the LEV50N. Then check the cells unbalance around 10km of remaining range with Canion. I fully agree to try buying an OBC as spare part. In any case good luck 👍 😉.

    Single Phase Charger

Why don't you buy an EVSE with adjustable current? There are many of those on Aliexpress, pls remeber to select the one with Type 1 plug

My 2012 IMEV doesn't charge every time i plug it in.

Without power, I would put some deoxidizing spray into the connector holes of the type 1 plug and car socket. And still without power, connect and disconnect the type 1 plug several times, hoping to clean the contacts. Pls try and let us know, in a couple of times, I solved the matter in this way.

OBC Swapping Gen1 to Gen 2

Hi Coulomb, I see, I will pay attention to the "13A" mark and if I have a chance I will check it and see if the current is fixed or can be changed.

OBC Swapping Gen1 to Gen 2

Yes "ALL" sounds good. But I do not think it is linked to the AC voltage input range as all should accept 100-240V AC But I have noted that on the OBCs there are at least these marks: ALL, NAS, STD. NAS probably means North American Standard and, if I rememeber well, they do not work on EU cars...

OBC Swapping Gen1 to Gen 2

Hi Lviv, In addition on the Kiev's comments, just please be sure that your car and the other OBC come both from the same continent. One time I got an OBC from the USA and it did not work on a EU car. I had to swop the upper control board too. Let us know, Sandrosan

OBC new model vs. old model

Hi Kiev and Coulomb, I have decided to open the cover of the 2012 model (invaliding the warrantee... :( ). And I have discovered that: The 2 OBCs, the USA model 2012 and the EU model 2011 in my hands have the same connectors, same pins, same pin positions, same wires colors, fortunately let...
