Practical solutions for extending cold weather range

Heating pads: I agree it would be a chore to get them (and the insulation) installed but I've put them in other car applications before and it worked well. Pb Batts lose about 50% of their capacity in cold conditions so it was well worth the effort there...

    EPEV Blog: Mostly MiEV

Thanks for the reminder. I recall reading most of the way through that thread, Which I think starts at: http://www.mynissanleaf.com/viewtopic.php?f=26&t=4330&hilit=Two+120v&sid=3bb12ebb40eed789663976564b73c7c8 That does look like a better solution. Michael

    EPEV Blog: Mostly MiEV

Oooo, maybe make the plugs with the kind that have the circuit tester built in? I like that idea. One slop shopping. Hmmm, I should probably put an actual subscription box on the blog. Of course then I'd feel like I actually have to maintain it... ;)

    EPEV Blog: Mostly MiEV

I thought I'd out a link to my blog since it's mostly MiEV anyway. http://everettpowered-evs.blogspot.com/ Recent stuff is on the JuiceBox EVSE, EVSEUpgrade and my battery ramblings. There will of course be more. I'm not quiet... Comments and suggestions are MOST welcome but would probably be...

    Drag-racing the i-MiEV

Hey Steve. Glad to see you here. When I first got in 'Mi EV' I was expecting times near what my Gen1 Insight would do. Roughly timing the first 1/8th confirmed it's pretty close, but I hadn't made it out to a full quarter. Doesn't look like we'll be beating Wayland's Insight times anytime soon...

Use of public chargers by PHEVs vs. BEVs

    > "Perhaps all public chargers should have signage stating that other users have the right to unplug your car when the "Charge Complete" light is lit?" That would be *great*, at least until government gets involved: In California AB 475 came into effect last year which requires Electric...

Use of public chargers by PHEVs vs. BEVs

    > "A method of contact should be mandatory for all plug-ins." Fortunately such a thing exists, if not in a mandatory form. http://mobilesquared.com/chargesticker/ However I'm afraid the people who would use this are the same ones who are unlikely to be involved in the argument in the first...

Could Nissan's battery problems happen to us?

There's also the fact that the Leaf's LiPo battery chemistry is significantly different from the Yuasa LiMn chemistry in the MiEV. I don't know if that counts for or against us, but it is different...

    Anybody seen any in stock?

Thanks guys, I'll pass those on. Once you get beyond a certain radius where the dealers swap cars around, I don't think the cost increment for coast-to-coast is all that large. Maybe $3-400 additional for 2500 mi. over say 1000 mi. So, I think we're looking all over the country. That one in PA...

    Anybody seen any in stock?

About two weeks ago I bought a White (w/blue) SE and my sister's family bought a Silver SE. Those appear to be the last two available in Oregon. Now one of our friends wants one (after a couple spirited 'test drives') and we're having trouble locating any stock that does not have the...
