Leasing batteries enables the swapping model which makes long distance travel much easier. Too bad that's not an option for the i-MiEV.

The battery lease takes away the concern about batteries aging and having to replace them. This also might give the option to the owner to choose a battery package based on need like the Tesla Model S where the driver can choose between different kWh packages and they pay accordingly. I also like the Quick Swap, how convenient that would be. If this momentum keeps going, we'll be seeing all kinds of interesting ideas over the next few years.
