I thought this post on the iMiev Facebook page to be quite interesting. The replacement cells apparently boost the iMiev range up to 250 kilometers:

Hi Phximiev,

I'm not on facebook, can you please post more info?

Thanks and good health, Weogo

This is a copy of a posted comment with the YouTube link: “They commissioned a Chinese manufacturer to make replacement cells of the right physical size, but with modern chemistry—94 Ah if I remember correctly. Then they wrote software to intercept CANbus and lie to the ECU.

The relevant bit starts here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L1x-BPPEqkw&t=1020s. “

Hope this works for you. :D

There is more information in the below topic. Unfortunately, there are several subtopics intertwined in that one large topic, so it will be tedious to follow if you're only interested in the latest version of it that is showing great promise. Look for the posts by francisco.shi .

I thought this astonishing:

This is ONE's website: https://one.ai

The new battery apparently uses two cathodes! https://one.ai/the-electric-go-f-ing-solve-it-yourself-four-ev-battery-startups-worth-watching/

I saw this article about Tesla and Amprius: https://electrek.co/2020/08/24/tesla-teases-nanowire-technology-battery-day/

You may have seen this article.

So I sent off an email to the company about the batteries and received the following information back:

The standard footprint of our commercially available cells are ~6.0mm x 54mm x 65mm.
Energy densities range from 365Wh/kg - 450 Wh/kg.
Continuous Discharge Ranges of: 0.5C - 6C.
Extreme Fast Charge capabilities of: 0%-80% SOC in <6 minutes with no performance impact.

Cycle life varies between 150-700 cycles at Full DoD, 2.6-6.2Ah per cell (T:
4.5-6.0mm x 50-54mm x 55-65mm), between 3.4-3.6V.
