Re: Firmware for charger, BMU, CMUs

I was going to say the same about Kolyandex - but it may be that sufficient payment would persuade him to publish what he knows From his point of view it shouldn't be a high risk. Those who want to hack on the things will improve the code and he can still sell his software to load those improvements...

Re: Process for programming new remote for I-MIEV

If anyone has the time and inclination, I'd really like to try and find out what signals are being passed onto the canbus, etc when the remote is used The antenna module connects to another ECU down in the footwell with a 16 pin connector (B-125) and I suspect that with appropriate wizardry an OVMS ...

Re: Decyphering iMiEV and iON CAR-CAN message data

I am trying to add cruise control to an Imiev. How far did you get with this Franciso? I've been getting occasional error messages about cruise control lines being low (the steering wheel resistor lines) - which is odd because they're not connected. That makes me wonder if the code is in the EV-ECU...

Re: Install a Remote Control in a 2011 i-Miev

I'm very interested in seeing if this can be used to get OVMS to control the charger. Do you have any photos or pointers to the location in the circuit diagram? Adding to this... After going through the circuit diagram it looks like the best (and safest) way of achieving this is to control CHGB out...

Re: Replace bad LEV50 cell with LEV40

Just as I was about to throw in the towel, some good news finally, I take sub-optimal over dangerous any day…. :D Sub optimal ranges between "barely works" and "not very well". I think it'll be okish if the LEV40s are in reasonable condition but in my opinion the figures being a...

Re: 12v Battery - All You Ever Wanted To Know

Removed my OBDLink MX since it consumes 60ma. Just so you're aware, you have to explicitly set the things to sleep when idle You can do it using ODBLink's software and it's a persistent setting Personally I'm considering adding a switched 12v feed to mine for much the same reason as my one keeps lo...

Re: Under the Cover--an Inside Look at a 2018 On-Board Charger (OBC2)

I think it's as simple as a poor quality capacitor failing spontaneously well within its supposed limits, or perhaps being under-speced for it's role in the circuit or a bit of both. There's always the old chestnut of moisture getting into the HV container. It might even be a contaminant in the pot...

odd error code - a cruise control one - P0580

This one has been thrown a couple of times P0580 - which is "Cruise control multi-function input A circuit low" All well and good, but the car isn't fitted with cruise or even wiring for it (I've been planning on adding it and obtained the steering wheel parts/clock spring, traced cabling,...

Re: Replace bad LEV50 cell with LEV40

Some more input for you I've managed to overcome the link rot and grab the original Yuasa tech documents, then translate them from Japanese. They all talk about LEV50s being 4.1V cells, not 4.2 It may be possible without major firmware modification after all. I'd still be extremely careful - ideally...

Re: Replace bad LEV50 cell with LEV40

"Although capable of charging LEV50s to 4.2V the BMS sets 100% SOC @ 4.1V, which is within the LEV4x spec" yes.....but...... that last 0.1V is really important to battery longevity and more important the charging system lets cells go _higher_ than 4.1V, particularly if you're rapid chargin...
