Re: The Auction Salvage Thread

Here's a purple 2012 with 59k miles that was a donation to charity, only damage appears to be cosmetic on the driver's door. Anybody got a daughter ready for her first sacrificial victim?

Re: Shuddering under acceleration after replacing OBC snubber caps.

I believe a gear shuddering issue is actually fairly common, but under different circumstances. I can induce it pretty reliably by shifting into D while still slowly rolling backwards, or from a standstill if I 'blip the throttle', or depress and quickly release the accelerator and then push it down...

The Auction Salvage Thread

Starting a new thread, as though I rarely want to to spoil a hidden gen in online auctions, I'm happy to serve as spoiler to the salvage yards! If you're in the LA area and want some alloy wheels, this burned out i-MiEV with good wheels ought to sell for less than the price of wheels. (Fire wasn't h...

Re: using a Lev50 pack for solar

Unfortunately our pack does not have quick-connect fittings like the LEAF and most other cars, and there's no separate output for the heater. Get out your insulated 10 and 12 mm sockets if you want to tap the HV, and crack the pack if you want to do it 'upstream' of the contactors for full-time powe...

Re: Our Gas Free Miles Travelled

I'm beginning to suspect that the 2012 BMU is not fully compatible with the 2014 battery, as the reported Ah has not budged after 8 cycles. However, if anything it's running the battery more conservatively, and charging to 4.11 VPC with 54 to 60 miles of range is ideal for MR BEAN's mission paramete...

Re: Our Gas Free Miles Travelled

The 2014 pack went in easy with no keying of the data harness connectors, and immediately started delivering new-ish performance, with sustained 45 kW on the first DCFC, very well-balanced cells, and RR that climbed from 29 to 60 over the first few cycles. HowEVer, the reported Ah capacity hasn’t bu...

Re: Our Gas Free Miles Travelled

MR BEAN is just shy of 141k miles and flashed the turtle under heavy load this week while at 50% SOC, a sure sign of a weak cell. Sure enough , the capacity that measured 35 Ah only 7k miles ago is now down to 27.9 Ah and the voltage differential between the highest and lowest cell grew to 0.11V und...

Re: Gearbox removal

We all deserve a self-induced dope slap when wrenching. Sorry to not mention the lateral rod.
