Re: Decyphering iMiEV and iON CAR-CAN message data

i think the i909 would have to send commands to read ecu Data Items, and to do a Clear of the DTC faults. It is slow and clunky in that you have to page thru the list of available Data Items, 4 or 5 items per page, selecting the ones you want to see; then hit return and the selected list values are ...

Re: Decyphering iMiEV and iON CAR-CAN message data

It may be that the CRC is, or can be, automagically calculated and appended in the frame by properly configured hardware, but when you are manually reading or writing frames to the CAN buss using an Arduino, then this is not automatic. You would need a subroutine to do the division of the data bits ...

Re: Decyphering iMiEV and iON CAR-CAN message data

@dopey, All the CAN traffic is binary data, just ones and zeroes; the CAN protocol determines how you group, read and interpret the bits. The arbitration field is 11 bits and contains the Parameter ID, aka the PID; so 7FF is the highest PID in hexadecimal, 11111111111 in binary. The CRC is the Cycli...

Re: Decyphering iMiEV and iON CAR-CAN message data

What about the checksum/CRC? How is that created and sent along with your packet?

It seems like most of the PID lists and tables leave out the CRC, but they are necessary for every message.

Re: Troubleshooting and repair for On-board Charger (OBC)

Howdy nnasskoo and welcome, i think it is in the hybrid fet board, aka waffle plate, on the pair of solder junctions labelled 17 and 18 in the silkscreen of the power board. Located on the right column, third row from the bottom. My notes show it measured 90k resistance, i didn't try heating or cool...

Re: Troubleshooting and repair for On-board Charger (OBC)

The PFC chip is IC312, located on the bottom side of the power board, UC2845. There is a picture of this in the first post on page 1.

The microcontroller on the upper control board sends the signal for the H-bridges.

Are you trying to make a repair?

Re: Troubleshooting and repair for On-board Charger (OBC)

The 3 IGBTs used in the power conditioning section are driven by signals from an IC located on the power board. This ic performs a PFC function, that is Power Factor Control, which is the alignment of the voltage and current to be in-phase, by the switching action of the transistors of the Boost con...

Re: Nissan Leaf - Onboard charger (Wiring and Can messages)

The older version only has the OBC function and the DCQC control; the DC/DC Converter is in the HV junction box. i have not looked in detail at the second gen units but they do seem to be more compact and integrated, smaller housing, less weight, etc. i think someone on the diy electric car forum ha...

Re: Can't mix yellow and purple

Thanks for sharing the photos Jamie, is your car RHD?

What is the spacing between the modules when installed in the pack--what would you guess might be the available gap for using a slightly taller cell? Is there any "unused" space between modules?

Re: Troubleshooting and repair for On-board Charger (OBC)

Yes the google documents show up now, you did a good job measuring the waffle plate values in the second document; unfortunately it is badly damaged as coulomb mentioned. It cannot be repaired but the entire waffle plate could be swapped out from another OBC after checking all the diode drops first ...
