Problem Charging but it isn't the battery

Hi Joe, nice to hear from you. So my level 2 station at home is kind of unusual. The mitsu dealership that sold me the miev also sold me one of the two Eaton industrial level 2 chargers that mitsu North America forced all dealers to install. I can only remember one prior incident more than a...

Problem Charging but it isn't the battery

Hi Jay, Thanks very much for the response. So I ended up taking drastic action. I traded in my miev for a Kia Soul ev. They are offering 3 year leases for $179 and no money down. Too good to pass up. And the purchase option at the end of the 3 years is around $10k. Pulled the trigger today...

Problem Charging but it isn't the battery

Hi all, it's been a long time since I've posted, but suddenly I'm having a major issue with charging. The car stops charging and the level 2 charger says charging complete even though it isn't. But if I either unplug and replug the the charger, or if I hit override all setting on the remote...

    Our Gas Free Miles Travelled

Hi all. It's been a long time since I've posted but I've been lurking and reading. Nice to see the devotion that still exists. I'm showing up today because today is my i Miev's birthday! Four years old today! 36,375 miles on the odometer. I seem to get a little less range than I used to, but...

    Handy online calculator

This website calculates your commuting cost and compares it to other cars. http://gis.its.ucdavis.edu/evexplorer/ It's very useful and the numbers are close to what I have calculated. You input your home address and work address and it will automatically calculate the "fuel" cost for 4...

    Comparison of Aerodynamics

The comparison of horespower to maintain 70 mph would not have come from the wind tunnel test. I think it was thrown in to show "real world" effect of aerodynamics.

    Comparison of Aerodynamics

I just came across this article that compares the aerodynamics of the Tesla model S, Nissan Leaf, Toyota Prius, Chevy Volt, Mercedes CLA 250 and a 2001 Honda Insight for Hybrid. http://www.greencarreports.com/news/1092373_aerodynamic-tesla-model-s-electric-car-wins-the-wind-tunnel-wars The...

Word directly from Mitsubishi on date of USA 2014 MiEV

just saw a 2014 in a dealer lot here in Albany NY. What was most noticeable to me was a different hubcap, no silver accent on the dashboard (all black, very pretty) and the leather accents on the shifter and the steering wheel. Also, the lettering along the shifter is now white instead of red...

    Pothole damage

Isn't that part of maintenance rotating tires in our case from side to side?

    Pothole damage

Don, those were my concerns too, but Firestone finished the work, the rim and tire look good, at least from the outside, I drove it to work and it felt, sounded fine, no noises, no pulling, no issues at all. And only $70 labor. I'm at 19,000 miles and haven't rotated the tires yet so I'll be...

    Pothole damage

Latest update, the mechanic told me he got the tire off and it's not damaged. Said he should be able to repair the rim. Thanked me for bringing the car, said he's never seen one and it's "really cool" - his words. So far so good, although I'll still have to get a new hubcap.

    Pothole damage

I'm taking everyone's advice, I'm at Firestone waiting to see if they can fix it. I'm shocked the tire didn't pop too after seeing the damage to the rim. I hadn't checked the tire pressure in a while and it may have been under inflated. The alignment seems good but the tire is giving a low...

    Pothole damage

The Mitsu repair guy didn't say anything about the suspension. It seems to be handling well. There is some noise from that end but it may be that the tire is slightly out of balance.

    Pothole damage

I hit a very deep pothole and it sent my hubcap flying and bent my rim. Pics below. The Mitsubishi service person said he could try to bang it out but recommended I get a new rim, which costs $150 plus labor. He said banging it out could damage the tire. Any thoughts? The tire seems to be...

    A Case of Diminishing Return

Don, the contrarian in me is begging to speak out. I don't know anyone - not a single person - whose road travelling needs never exceeds the range of the MiEV. And, unless you have made significant changes to your road travelling habits since you got your MiEV, I bet you at least sometimes need...

    Why do Li-ion Batteries die?

What I found interesting about this report is how much battery capacity was lost at each stage. At 10,000 miles the cars lost an average of 6%. From 10,000 to 20,000 they lost an average of 2.5%. At 30,000 they lost around 8%. At 40,000 they lost almost 10%. So for some reason the amount of...
