I fitted an aftermarket head unit in my 'i' with no ill effects.
I fitted a pair of right-sized speakers into the rear too and the mounting holes mostly line up with the door slots.
But impedance was not something I even thought about!
In Japan and Europe the first iMievs had the spoked wheels, and the Peugeot and Citroen versions seem to have them still.
I am sure any weight difference is only small...
Hi,
as far as I know there were two different styles of OEM wheel offered on the iMiev:
a spoked design on earlier cars, same as on the ICE 'i' car, and the 'three hole' design fitted to later cars.
Which ones are lighter, please?
:)
Hi,
for what it's worth, I get around 45 - 48 mpg (imperial) in the UK in warm weather. Cold weather around 40 - 45 mpg.
Now, someone could always take the entire running gear and drivetrain from a gasoline 'i' and retrofit it into an iMiev shell...
I didn't realise that the US version gets a rear-mounted radio antenna, which I think is an improvement over the original.
(And after looking closely, I realise it also doesn't have the black panel above the windscreen, or the black hood trim)
That's a relief that it isn't just me, thanks. I'd hesitate to adjust the beams outside the factory setting though; I once had two rear passengers and was happy to see the headlights pointing a little higher up and lighting up more road. But I got a few flashes from oncoming traffic so had to...
thanks for the replies! I own a gasoline 'i' and the headlights are the same as the iMiev (if I am wrong, please correct me). Hence asking about the LED lights. Perhaps they aren't offered in the US but UK iMievs can be specified with them.
I've always thought how poor the stock headlights are...
I don't know why but the rear wheel arches on the gasoline 'i' are some kind of rust trap, I hear. Mine has surface rust in little patches in the same place both sides.
It might be too early to say on the US 'i' and they might have solved the problem. But perhaps worth having a look? I...
I had my 'i' on a lift and went over the underside, and found no metal part that wasn't magnetic... so unless I find the secret panel that it's hidden behind, I tend to think the aluminium spaceframe chassis exists only in the publicity material.
