What I am surprised at is that this will even work at all... and that Tesla chargers aren't locked down to their own products by software...
Superchargers are locked down. Regular wall chargers (or whatever they call them) are just J1772 devices with a different pinout.

Found it! Give it a try if you are interested.
siai47, thank you for that. I was a little slow on the uptake and the JDapter Stub

is presently out of stock. My brother-in-law just bought a BoltEV and I thought this would make a good Christmas present. You're right, I should call Tony ...

Does anyone know anything about this similar (= identical?) product called TeslaTap for $250?

With so many Tesla destination chargers (HPWC) in place (seems as though every winery tasting room has one), I would think that plugging in any EV at a winery or hotel or restaurant with HPWC would still meet their expectations, although I'd leave a note on the windshield so an arriving Tesla could contact me.

Well, I purchased a TeslaTap. https://www.ebay.com/itm/142544249020

Works with both my Tesla HPWC and UMC. Seems well made. Although a bit pricy ($250), it allows me to use Tesla charging stations both at home and on the road with my i-MiEV. Plugshare shows around 750 Tesla (non-Supercharger) charging stations in North America - I came across many in my cross-country trips in the Tesla. One more addition to my box of tricks.

Of course I plan on checking with the station owner and get their permission to charge. I've made a sign to put on the i-MiEV windshield informing the Tesla driver that it's ok to disconnect and providing my cellphone number in case I need to move. At this point in history I don't think doing this will be an issue, but all it takes is a few bad apples for antagonism to flare up. We'll see...
