More on charging options, has anyone tried this?

Yeah, I have a quick-and-dirty (and less-safe) version of this. Works just fine and popular with Leaf owners. Just need to know that you cannot use this with a GFCI-protected 120vac outlet in either leg. Most outlets in the US on the exterior of the house are GFCI-protected. Oh, and always do a polarity test on both outlets before plugging it in.

In theory, this design allows one to use both 120v plug sockets and convert the two to a single Level 2 charge. This would seem to be a desirable product to have if it works.
It definitely works, but not with any two outlets. You have to use one outlet which is breakered to one side of the 240 volts in your main power panel and then a second outlet which is breakered on the opposite side in your main panel - Both outlets are 120 volts, but when you measure between the hot terminal of the two of them, you'll see 240 volts

Frequently when you find 2 or 3 outlets in one room, all of them are breakered on the same leg, so plugging your Quick 240 cord into any two of those doesn't get you 240 volts :(
