I totally missed that about the Frankenplug, thanks for pointing that out. I wonder if an adaptor to a ChadeMo is possible, sort of ala Tesla to J1772 adaptor.

Thanks pbui19, but not that I'm aware of yet. When AeroVironment won the I-5 DCFC contract, they pledged that adding CCS cables to their CHAdeMO stations would be possible. (Regular, or Unleaded?)
I haven't heard the same from Blink/Car Charging Group yet.

ABB was the first to offer a dual-standard DCFC station.

Now, ChargePoint is marketing a dual-standard DCFC station made by EFACEC in my old home town of Norcross, Georgia!

These EFACEC chargers are being deployed in a huge Kansas City rollout.

As far as adaptors go, the TESLA roadster community was quick to come up with their own adaptors, but I got crucified for asking about a TESLA-to-CHAdeMO adaptor. (don't we all troll once in a rare while?)

I've been asking around and have found nobody other than EMW that was attempting hobby-level CHAdeMO, but Valery and Co. have been struggling with providing reliable products and customer service as of late, and I've never received a response to my quite serious product inquiry about a charger to produce CHAdeMO from high power L2 EVSE (and wall outlets)....

Using the Sun Country network of HAL2 with a CHAdeMO adaptor at 16 kW would be very nice, but technically challenging, and therefore, probably too expensive for an individual user to own one..

Since the Frankenplug uses a simpler communication setup than CHAdeMO, it should be easier to hack, but it hasn't been worth pursuing yet because there were so few CCS stations relative to the large CHAdeMO deployments.

How important is having quick charging ?

Well for me i am happy that all the Canadian models came with quick charging. But to tell the truth i have only quick charged 3 times in 2.5 years. But the quick chargers are coming more and more online in my area so i may be quick charging more in the future.

I would definitely try to get a car with the quick charge port but when you get it accept that you wont use it most of the time.

Kind of screwed up but i think that is the real reality.

With an imiev you will likely charge at home almost all the time and only use the car in a close radius to your house even if you do have qc.

But if you have lots of qc stations near your house and you can plan long routes with qc along the way and you love the idea of going a long distance on electricity and you have a sense of adventure.... Then you may wind up using your qc port, but probably not alot.....

Lots of ands and buts in that last sentence.... There really is no good answer to this question it really depends on your situation, but I will say that even without qc i think you will get tons of pleasure and miles out of an imiev....

Don.....
