We had a little cold snap and I figured this might be my last chance to do a cold temperature L3 charging test.

I had an opportunity to do an overnight, UNPLUGGED cold weather soak and the next day, go to a near by level 3 charge station and record some information

Bluey sat outside unplugged overnight in -4F ( -20c) temperatures with 3 bars of charge. The next day temperatures climbed to 14 F , (-10 c) while I was charging.
It took 62 minutes to charge 8.2 kw, from 3 bars to 76%.

What was Interesting to compare to was………..

A similar cold temperature charge test when the car/ Battery was much younger
with only 12,425 miles (20,000 km) ,
The differences were -
The car was not cold soaked, it just came off a highway run but had to wait 30 minutes for an EV to charge, & temperatures were colder.

compared to

High Mileage 94,450 miles , ( 152,000 km)

Here is the link to the videos of the 2 tests for those interested.

Thanks very much for that Sandange!! I watched the videos and it appears that the the cold weather low and high mileage Q3 charge profiles were almost identical in character. Would you agree?

If so, that is pretty reasuring!

Yes ,I agree
It looks like the battery has really held up well

Looks great. :D
Do you know of any other imiev's that have covered this type of distance?
How many times have you charged using level 3?
I have counted I've used Chademo 30 times in 6000 miles, but usually only to top up. (162kwh in 30 sessions).
In winter we only see -5c not -25c and below!

Coming up to 4 years of ownership in July......
I would say we Use fast charging (L3) about
10 times a week

I now of one other 2012 i miev - I heard he had 81,000 miles -130,000 km .
- He was having issues with the main fuse blowing in the Main inverter.
Last I heard he traded up to a Bolt.

That's a lot more than I do!
Great that it still seems to be in good shape!
I haven't got canion yet because I don't want to get paranoid about monitoring cell health.
I have only ever L3 charged to 80% and I don't think the L3 charging was used at all for the first 25,000 miles.
