In the UK a company called ECOTRICITY has installed Fast charging points in Welcome Break Services. They plan to install them in all their Service stations and are making good progress, especially along the M4 Motorway , although one recently installed at Cardiff Gate has been vandalised I decided to try one of these out yesterday, as they have recently sent me a swipe card. Drove 70 Miles keeping to 50mph, I found that Trucks tailgated me really closely on Motorway as they couldn't pass me. Anyway arrived at Sarn Park Welcome Break, and located charging point, However I had a lot of problems. It kept giving me the message can't initialise. Eventually managed to start charging and then it stopped 3/4 way through charge, and had this problem again. This might be because I turned on ignition whilst charging to wind down the window. Managed to charge to 96% and then found out I couldn't get the Fast charge Lead out of the car. Anyway got it out eventually. I set the charger to charge the battery to 80%, however when I finished charging the display showed that the battery was charged to 96%. I think the 96% must relate to how much of the 80% of the battery had been charged. On the Journey up there which was 70 Miles I arrived with 3 Bars left. However on the return Journey I just made it Home with 1 mile left and no Bars. This is the first time I have ever used a fast charging point, and don't plan to use one regulary . However it was a bit of an experience, and if it wouldn't have charged I'd have been stuck.
